Exactly. It all circles back to where Jones made the comments. He made it on twitter, where his affiliation with the Dolphins is known with logos everywhere. This wasn't him saying it to friends, or him saying it on a secret private twitter to people he knew. This was said out in the open.

And all he said was "Horrible". He didn't say "fags should die". All he said was "Horrible".

How is this oppression? The company employs you, pays you, and expects you to hold yourself to a higher standard than a regular joe. You represent the company when you acknowledge you are part of that company. When you represent that company, you represent their ideals and beliefs.

You are hitting a slippery slope with the religious context. Many churches now welcome gay couples due to the dwindling numbers attending church and outside pressures from gay rights groups. Allowing it is the same as saying its OK.

And "horrible" insinuates that he is against what he saw, which does not represent the opinions of the team or league. They needed to make sure people knew that. He isn't missing any time with this "suspension", it's pure PR work so people see that the Dolphins do not agree with him.

Plus he said it about a fellow employee, which is just uncalled for in the corporate world. I have seen people get fired for saying less about fellow employees.

If Don Jones went to HR at an office and told them that Michael Sam making out with his twink boyfriend in front of him during the hiring process made him uncomfortable...they'd probably tell Michael Sam to stop making out with his twink boyfriend in a work environment, never mind having what I would assume, to be several "complaints" that would surely arise from a work setting of the same nature.

They wouldn't tell Michael Sam to stop making out with his twink boyfriend in a work environment, because Michael Sam didn't make out with his boyfriend in a work environment. If they did, the company would be hit with a discrimination lawsuit so fast it would make their heads spin (Judge Smails).

The company would have to have an all-inclusive "no make out" policy that doesn't specify same-sex relationships.

But it is true. Did you miss the whole discussion about companies giving employees Social Media Guidelines? Private companies have their own rulebook, and if you don't follow that rulebook you're out. What's so hard about that?

Do you understand the functional difference between company policy and the law ?
A company can institute any policy it wants , but even if a person signs and agrees it can't supersede labor protection laws. Social Media guidelines and what can be enforced are anything but cut and dry at this point. Even at its most basic rule of thumb a company cant prevent you from talking about work conditions. So that in and of itself is a right to a dissenting opinion at the workplace thus making your statement incorrect. All the other stuff is being slapped around all over courts the last few years. IIRC about half a dozen states say its illegal to ask for social media passwords with just about every other state in court for it."Private company policy" takes a backseat.Laws are obviously subject to the morals and ethics of the times as well.I have no issue with you saying you or anyone saying they agree with it or think its right. But you're backing your point with something that is anything but simple and cut and dry.

I already acknowledged a NFL branded/public account as a valid point and in this case probably the prevailing one. However I have seen nothing Bucky has said to warrant being called stupid or whatever else he was called. Learn to debate a topic without acting like babies.

this isn't the same as another job...at the NFL job every offensive player on every team including his own will mow him down on purpose till he gives in and quits or gets cut because he cant handle it. their thought process will be that no gay guy is taking my spot and their so called job/place of work will reward them for this motivation

Can send the same message to the public using other methods. If the league and teams stance is pro gay rights, they should already be sending this message out to the public. No need to oppress other peoples opinions to do this.

I have never, in my 35+ years of work, seen someone get fired for saying "Horrible".
