Not a problem.
I just found this out with my other character tonight... All the way back in Lothering when you start, there's that merchant having an argument with a Chantry priestest and some townsfolk.
You can choose to help the people and get nothing (but good karma I suppose) or help the merchant for 100 silvers.
I helped the merchant and then given the option (after I was paid), I killed him too. [You: "Oh, I heard you're making a killing. So am I (Kill him)."] :smh:
Afterward, for choosing to "help" the merchant, I got +3 approval points from Morrigan and -2 from Alistair.
Thankfully I just reloaded it afterwards but it's another example of the game allowing you to do batshit insane stuff on occasion.
