Elaborate...bc unless im misunderstanding, you want Chandler to be more of a focal point on offense....when Tyson Chandler is most successful when feeding off of scraps, putbacks,ally-opps,ect similar to the way the NYKs never ran plays for Marcus Camby, he just grabbed 12 points and 11 rebounds while being an athletic defensive presence....

Besides PG, Knicks need another consistent scorer - someone who's lights out.

And is anyone else besides me fed up with Landry Fields? What purpose does he serve?
 
The Knicks have to hope that Shumpert can develop into a 15-18ppg guy while still improving himself into becoming an elite wing defender. The problem with that is his knee injury, so instead of developing his offensive skillset he's going to be rehabing....that equates to a lost offseason for him. Fields is decent, but you really don't want him as your starter. At this point Fields is an overrated defender and mediocre offensive player. The other issue is Stoudemire's continued decline. Carmello Anthony is a great player, but he needs help.

Yes, Chandler is best in the paint where he can inflict his will, gets rebounds and just lay it in. Problem is, with Melo liking to play from the elbow and Chandler in the paint, Amare usually doesn't have room to do what he likes (first, he's a pick and roll guy but they havent had a PG who can run it with Lin out)....get the ball maybe 10 or so feet out and make a move. There's been too many times this year that Amare resorts to some guy out there because he's not involved in the flow of the offense.

With no training camp, they had maybe 1 or 2 practices before the season started. As for just standing around, if they can't get the passes off early in the shot clock, it turns into an iso show where they drain the clock and usually take bad shots.

I'm expecting with a full training camp, it should solve some of that stuff but Melo is Melo....and it's not like Woodson is going to revolutionize this team's offense.
 
in denver, there was a lil nickname the locker room gave Melo, it was under the radar so it didnt come out until he was dealt...it was "offensive blackhole"

Melo is probably the best scorer in the NBA right now, but thats all that he does...he'll get double teamed and throw up an awful shot and like last night he'll make a few of them...but every other NYK will just have to watch
Melo doesnt set picks or come off screens, he flat out refused to play in D'antoni's motion offense.....Melo's game lies in getting the ball..dribble dribble, post, backup, tough shot...

Melo is melo, and as long as he gets his shots...there's no problem. last night when asked about getting the offense to gel with him and Amare, he said they had jelled and that they already play well together.
Lastnight Melo took 31 shots in 42 minutes , Amare took 7 in 31....

Woodson wants to get a new deal, the last coach got fired bc the "franchise" wouldnt buy into his offense, all woodson ran in Atlanta was the Iso, So this is the offense...
 
Knicks don't have the freedom to make a lot of moves. Lin, Smith, Novak & Fields are free agents. I like Lin, but he's not good enough to challenge Miami. That's the team to beat for the next several years. Knicks need an established veteran PG who will challenge the two stars. Aside from Nash, I've heard Andre Miller & Felton as possible PGs for NY. Woodson has to figure out how to make the Stoudemire-Anthony-Chandler trio work.
