This legacy talk is so stupid. The man is a Top 3 QB of all-time.. win or loss last night that wasn't changing.

280 yards on 34 completions winds up being 8.2 ypc. Average QB's average around 11. 8 ypc is truly awful.

Take a shot towards Demaryius deep. Decker was covered by Sherman for most of the game so Demaryius was lined up against Byron Maxwell. Run more deep routes instead of 5 yard drags all game. Thats not gonna beat Seattle. They could have tried a number of things but they didn't, I'll rewatch the game but I'd have to say maybe 75% of his passes had to be 5 yards and shorter downfield. Your excuse is cliche and just that, an excuse. when they tried to throw it deeper Demaryius actually made a catch (where he fumbled). But that was one of the only times they actually tried to push the ball downfield and what do you know it worked. Rest of the game was loaded with underneath routes and screens all game long.

The Broncos had no rushing attack to keep the defense honest. The offensive line barely gave Manning three seconds to throw, so those downfield throws weren't available. All they could do was the shorter passes, and with the Seahawks able to stack the box they eliminated any gains you get from short crosses, slants and screens.

It is really hard to have a high QB rating when possesions/touchdowns are taken away by your receivers and your offensive line lets four guys put tons of pressure on you almost every play.

Let's face it, if Thomas holds on to that football Manning likely has a touchdown on the next two or three plays.

Yes. They would've been just outside the ten yard line. Three more 4-5 yard passes is a TD from there. Manning wasn't having trouble with those at that point in the game.

Aso my man, have some perspective on this. Manning was playing against one of the best defense's ever assembled. If he wasn't taking shots down field I'm gonna trust both Manning and the Seahawks defense enough to assume that there was nothing there. For some reason the image of Denver receivers running loose in Seattle's secondary only to be ignored by Peyton Manning, is hard for me to get in my head.

I'm not going to sit here and say that Joe Montana would never have a game like Manning's because he did, he had them in the playoffs, too. If you look at Montana's run from 85-87 in the playoffs, he was downright terrible in the playoffs, especially against an amazing D like the Giants had.

However, when we start arguing all the fine details of greatest QB of all time, you start to dissect EVERY little thing. It isn't fair and it only applies when splitting hairs of the greatest of all time (sorry, but Marino is still a better QB than Dilfer, but that doesn't mean Super Bowls aren't important when debating GOAT). I just have a very hard time to say a guy who drops in nearly every statistical category for a QB of note (QBR, TD%, YPA, INT%, etc.) is better than Montana who actually raised his stats in the playoffs. Yes, I know they are a small sample size, yes, I know all those regular season games matter, and yes, I know its a team game. But again, when picking the GOAT, you have to pick apart hairs and argue all these little details that you never would even consider if you are just saying something like Ryan vs Flacco.

The INT to Chancellor was an awful throw.. he had Welker open over the middle. A couple other times he was forcing throws to windows that weren't there and missing the open zone. The Seahawks had pressure on him ALL game long + had their WR's playing scared and it was done.

Pinning all the blame on his shoulders in a 43-8 loss is obviously stupid.. but saying Peyton played well is also incorrect.

the fact that you know less than nothing about football, yet you continue to post about it, is just baffling. do you even know what padding your stats means? let me educate you. when manning only has 109 yards in the first half its because the defense only allowed that many yards. when seattle is up 36-0, then let off the gas a bit, they allowed manning to throw for 171 yards in the 2nd half. Manning padded his stats when the defense wasnt playing at full throttle

McCarthy gives Rodgers 2.5 seconds to get the ball out. Manning had two ints with his team down 29-0 in the first half or early in the second. Manning contributed to the loss. The entire team caused the loss, but Manning contributed to it. You're sounding as bad as Bill trying to defend Favre. Manning did NOT have a good game.

I didn't think Manning was GOAT before the game. I would have picked two other QB's before him. And the game did nothing to change my mind. I'm OK with someone else believing Manning is GOAT. He has a tremendous resume. But I would pick Unitas and Montana before Manning.
