Enough is enough. Peyton Manning is the greatest QB of all time.

What would Manning have to do, to qualify as greater than all, between now and the end of his career. Does he need to accomplish more, or just continue to play at a high level without accolades or titles.

Well, my mind is made up. He's the best ever. If i'm starting a team, and I have first pick, i'm starting my franchise with the best player at the most important position, and i'm taking Manning with little thought.

I don't get wrapped up in placing overloaded weight in SB titles. It's obviously important, and I believe you need at least one, but a bad throw in a SB dosent wipe away an entire resume of awesome.

To that point:

LET'S NOT FORGET THAT DAVID FULCHER DROPPED A GIMME INT FROM THE HANDS OF JOE MONTANA THAT WOULD HAVE ENDED THE GAME, so enough of this "Montana would never have thrown such a crucial pick" bullshit.


If (when) Manning wins another title(s), I won't even entertain a debate for anyone else.

I think it really muddles up the situation with Manning playing the game a bit differently than most QB's. Is it the WR's fault they run the wrong pattern because they got confused with the complex audible scheme and/or didn't hear it? Is it the RB's fault they had a poor game because Manning chose to opt to run at the wrong times or not as often? This is where you would judge the coaching staff, not the QB.

I don't agree that you can hold it as a negative to a QB that doesn't do it, because they are out there being a QB which is all that is expected and what we are judging them on, being a QB. Manning is a QB and OC at the same time, which is an impressive addition to what he does but I don't believe we can hold it against a QB for not playing OC at the same time just because Manning does it.

It's a tough thing to look at and I'm really not sure how to conclude here.

He should have passed to Collie underneath anyways. We've ran that play with alot of success this year and I think for once he locked on a little too much onto Reggie . I know Wayne was trying to take all the blame in his post-game interview but I blame them both

Possibly ... but I will say this is the best our o-line has played all year run blocking wise . I just don't think we are talented enough on the o-line to run the ball consistently every game. I actually put the lack of being able to run on Polian more than anyone . While his make do approach has brought us amazing success ... it hurts us at other times.

He's the greatest I've seen but I don't like to get into rankings . I would think he needs another superbowl and keep going at the current pace to be called the G.O.A.T in most peoples minds

It would make sense if he can play that long. Favre broke Marino's TD record before setting the INT record. The point is that if you play long enough and at a high enough level, you are going to have all of the records including the bad ones.

I am one of the people that thinks Marino was actually the best "pure QB" of all-time, he just got stuck with shitty team mates for most of his career. On the topic of GOAT though, you have to have championships and unfortunately he does not have any to bring to the discussion.

Randall Cunningham has the longest punt in NFL history, so fuck Tom Tupa.

I would always check to see if Tupa had good punting stats in Madden. I used to love little things like that.

That's how it goes though . Manning goes from having a pretty good game to being mediocre and a choker because of one pick . Brees makes a very bad throw in the first half also but Bethea drops it and nobody says anything.

It's a very fine line when you are judging the GOAT purely off superbowls which imo is why it's such a stupid way to measure QB's. [I do think post-season play should be important but not everything]

The fact that this is even a debate when Manning has probably 4-5 good years ahead of him shows how good of a QB he has been/is
