Heh.

I went to go liberate Mosquito Yard to open up part of the map and came across a sea of Tapirs.

Nothing but tapirs for at least a good 1,000 feet as I trekked towards the camp... until I came across a pair of Tigers.

One of those monsters started stalking me as I tried to sneak into the camp myself and then when I thought I got away, the fucking thing lunges at me.

So I do what any sane man would do and ran screaming into the camp, tossing a grenade towards a set of pirates along the way as I hid.

The tiger proceeded to do my dirty work for me when it ginzu'd through 5 of the pirates plus a sniper. :lol:

Now I have a tiger left to deal with, a new basecamp and a trophy that says I liberated a camp while not setting off the alarm. :lesmug:

I played a few hours over the weekend and I really enjoy it. I really enjoy the randomness of the game. I was chasing a deer through the woods, because I was trying to get a larger pouch/holster for my weapons, but I couldn't just shoot it, because I learned that alarms the hostiles. So, I was chasing it around and it ran into the street where hostiles on a jeep ran it over and kept going. After they left I went and got the skin. LOL.

I'd highly recommend grabbing the Recurve Bow and the bow skills and having it with you for your game. I'll have ammo for all of my guns but still just decide I feel like taking a camp down with arrows, Legolas style. I have the entire north island liberated and all but 1 of the enemy camps in the southern island liberated. I was 2 minutes away from going to the last camp and taking it over but the girlfriend showed up so I shut it down and saved it for another day's journey.

I've had the entire map open from the radio towers for awhile now and am about to have all of the camps cleared, honestly it never felt like a "grind" to get both of these tasks completed either. Each and every radio tower is subtly (and sometimes not so subtly) different from the rest and some of the ones on Hoyt's island will do their best to give you that adrenaline rush if you're afraid of heights.

Although the missions do get a bit frustrating towards the end, I've never platinum'd a game yet but this one might be it. :bsmug:

Also... the wingsuit is SO FUCKING COOL, I was in a jeep being chased by pirates, noticed there was a cliff coming up so I drove right off of it, hopped out of the jeep and hit the wingsuit and just fucking took off into the air straight Ironman style and landed with the parachute perfectly overlooking the next enemy camp I'd liberate. Total erection and I may have even pee'd a little bit, which as you all know is quite hard to do.

Also, I'm guessing since Jay mentioned that there is a trophy for liberating a camp without setting off an alarm, there are other missable trophies? I guess you would be screwed if you opened up all the camps and didn't do one silently? Any other trophies like that?

Just looked at the list of trophies and that's the only one you could miss, but it'd be pretty damn hard to miss it considering you have over 30 chances to pull it off. You get +1,000 more xp if you're undetected in liberating a camp anyway so you should always be trying to stay undetected.

I only got 550 XP for liberating the camp.

Got the trophy but it was due to nobody being left alive to set off the alarm after the tiger had his way with the pirate camp.

The best part was after the camp swapped to being under my control, one of the Rakiyat let a caged Tiger out (it was also in the camp) like a fool and it slaughtered everyone.

All I could do was laugh while I got another pelt to add to my collection.

Prison Break Mission (currently in progress):

I took out two of the guards out on the beach proceeded towards the cabin that happened to have a snake in it.

Guard #3 followed the siren sound of my infinite rock collection and made spoons with said snake.

From what I gathered, the snake's got quite a mouth on her and it put him right out when she was done... :tiptoe:

Now I paused as I about to teach a tower guard a fatal lesson in asset management.

i.e., I'm going to give one of his vital organs my knife while I take his life.

 

Figures the protagonist's name is Jason and I'm skulking in the dark, freezing rain... murdering platoons of pirates.

Swam across the water to take out some of the other guards there before I get the Big Cheese with the Key.

One of the poor sods lit up a cigarette and didn't even get a drag before he learned why smoking kills.

Down to the final three in the area...

One sees his fallen comrade-in-arms lying dead on the dirt path and loses his shit, chasing up to where he thinks I'd be.

He was right.

Then he was dead.

I hopped down to take out the Key guy but slipped and ended up going Abdullah the Butcher on his face until he bled out.

Lackey #2 was all that remained.

Then he became just remains.

No alarms tripped and I snagged quite a bit of coin for my troubles along the way.

I like Hoyt too, that motherfucker is pure evil while Vaas is something else entirely. Again, I make the analogy that Vaas = Bane to Hoyt's Talia.

Is there a trophy for fixing someone's broken down vehicle? I saw them all the time before I had the repair tool. Since I have it I rarely seem to see them but finally ran into one on the way to a side mission. But I made the mistake of repairing the car before talking to the NPC because I didn't think you had to. I talked to him after and he just kind of walked away. No XP or anything.

I was wondering through the woods and came across a black bear, so I tried to silently take it down with my bow and arrow. After I shot at it the bear came running at me, so I switched my weapon to my pistol with a silencer. I got a few shots off and then I ran out of bullets. In the mean time the bear is attacking me and I'm running away trying to heal myself. I eventually say screw it and switch to my assault rifle and start blasting the bear and kill it. I then alert the bad guys and they start shooting at me. I run away and sort of flank them to take them out. As I'm healing myself again another jeep comes with 3 hostiles. They stop and start talking junk to me about how they are going to find out who did this. Then a Cassowary (those big and crazy birds) comes and kills 2 of the guys, so I just shot the one dude. Then another jeep comes with 2 guys and the Cassowary kills 1 of the dudes and I kill the second.

I had to go on one of those side missions to kill two bears. I go to the area on the map and see it's a cave. The first bear starts lumbering out immediately and I take it down with the provided shotgun. I start walking into the dark ass cave and eventually hear a growl from around a corner. Nothing will make you shit your virtual pants like knowing you're alone in a dark cave with a big ass hungry bear.

Speaking of bears, will I ever need their skins for anything? I'm near the top tier for most upgrades and I need shark skins and some rare animals like black panther skin, but I haven't seen anything about bear skin. I don't want to sell them if I'll need them.

I did some reading and besides the Unheard trophy there are two more that can be missable because apparently once you clear all the outposts there won't be any enemies left. You have to get Death From Above and Death From Below. I just unlocked the DFA ability which sucks because the outpost I just cleared had a perfect opportunity to use that.

The Heavy Duty Arrow Quiver requires two bear skins.

Other than the super rare animals, anything that you can hunt on the island respawns after a while so unless you feel like keeping skins on you, you can sell most of the stuff once you meet the prerequisite ranks for crafting stuff.
