Ya, no one is saying the UFC is clean. They've had to bust people for PED use like Sherk and Barnett, but at least the UFC/Strike Force test for these things. I give American fights far more credit than the freakshows they'll bring out in Japan who are pumping god knows what into their veins.

id say its even. and whos to say those fighters wont end up in the UFC. at least in the UFC we know whos hes going to be fighting, its not like every non-UFC heavy you listed are all in one org, they are scattered about, and we know he wont be facing some random freakshow can as per the normal one freakshow fight a year Fedor does.

but all those fighters usually can fight wherever they want so it makes it much easier to get fights we want to see

the UFC is the reason you dont get to see super fights because of there structure

Overeem has fought in DREAM, Strikeforce, K1, etc...

Barnett has fought in Sengoku, Afflicition, etc...

What always cracks me up about the Fedor/UFC talks that I read here and other sites is that Fedor has to prove himself in the UFC, lol

oh man, Fedor fought in the best HW division in the history of the sport during the Pride years, if anyone wants to prove themselves they need to go fight Fedor, also he has to prove himself in a cage, lol, the other guys should prove themselves in a ring if that’s the case

So Fedor has to come to the UFC, fight in a cage where he has never fought, with watered down rules where you cant stomp, soccer kick and knee to the head, probably with a crowd who will chant ‘USA, USA, USA!’ to prove to UFC fans he is the best? Give me a break

He is the champ, the universally recognized number 1, fighters should go fight him where he wants on his own conditions, the UFC bias is almost too much sometimes

The UFC has the most talent in MMA, but there HW and LW divisions are not stacked and you can make just as good, if not better fights in both of those divisions outside of the UFC

I think in the future there needs to be more weight classes, but right now its not worth it

to be honest, there is not enough talent in MMA right now to make another division

I guess the new myth that will live forever is that "Barnett killed Affliction".

Affliction was trying to get out of doing the show for weeks, Barnett just gave them an "out".

Also, talking about the non testing in Japan is silly, because a very large percentage of the US based fighters take PED's. Only the stupid/unlucky ones get caught. These guys know how to time the stuff out of their systems, and the better paid guys hire, *ahem*, nutritionists and other "specialists" who are experts on beating tests and timing cycles. Not to mention masking agents, which get more sophisticated every day.

When you fight for a living and the difference between winning and losing is literally thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars you better believe I'm going to roid my fucking brains out and do whatever it takes to get that money. Update 1: The call finally starts...with Jerry Millen. The MMA world just hasn't been the same without him. Nevermind, maybe it's not starting. Whatever.

Update 2: Vadim is up. Says there have been negotiations with the UFC and other companies. Not much else.

Update 3: Jerry Millen says Fedor will "headline" EA Sports' video game, which doesn't make any sense. I'm sure it makes Dana happy though. Fedor thanks everyone for coming.

Update 4: Reporter asks if Vadim plans any legal action against Affliction. Vadim says they will weigh all the options. M-1's attorney basically threatens Affliction and promises that if anything was done wrong, M-1 will go after the people responsible.

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Fedor Emelianenko, the top-ranked heavyweight in the world, will not fight in the UFC unless Dana White and company agree to co-promote with Emelianenko’s partners at M-1 Global.

M-1 Global CEO Vadim Finkelstein made that clear Wednesday at a news conference. Finkelstein confirmed that M-1 Global had negotiated with UFC officials as recently as Tuesday.

“We are open,” Finkelstein said. “We do want to work with the UFC. We do want to work with other promotions.”

Finkelstein said the UFC made a new offer to Emelianenko, and M-1 Global made a counteroffer. However, Finkelstein said Emeliananko would not proceed without a co-promotional effort between M-1 and the UFC where they shared expenses and profits.

Finkelstein also communicated that the UFC's representation in the media of his negotiations with the organization has not been accurate. He said Emelianenko has been made completely aware of any deals, past and present, that have been offered.

“I have 100 percent faith in Vadim and M-1 Global," Emelianenko said.

M-1 Global also pressured the UFC by saying they are in talks with other shows, including Strikeforce.

“We're not going to wait,” Finkelstein said. “We have to move forward. It might be that very soon we will be able to announce a deal with another promotion. I'm going to tell you that we're only going to work under co-promotion conditions.”

though they wont ufc should just break down and co-promote a fedor-lesnar fight. just a one shot deal. yeah lesnar would get wrecked but they would make a shit-ton of money and on the flip side if lesnar did beat fedor they got the best HW fighter in the world. not going to happen but should. the number one most wanted fight right now is lesnar-fedor. its gotta happen somehow
