But really, as an LSU fan who has seen my team benefit greatly from the screwy system twice in my lifetime*, I'd love to see playoffs.

I get what you are saying, and nobody would ever dare argue that the SEC slate isn't the most grueling in the country ... but if we're so tough and superior to everyone else, I say fine let's line 'em up.

Put a trophy on the line and let me play these supposed weak sisters of the poor in a round one game. Then let me run rough shod through the shithouse Big Ten or Pac-12 teams we make fun of so often. If the SEC is as tough as we hope/think/boast that is, there should be no problems.

As a fan of the sport though, I just want more compelling and legitimized competition.

We'd have to at least be 15-5 because we have the most conference wins in BCS games with 15 and we have not got the most appearances Big 10 has that with 21. SEC has most championships with 7 as well.

They did lobby themselves into a larger league. The MWC. Then the rest of the good teams in the league bailed.

Look, there's controversy in every sport. Being on the bubble in college hoops is one of the most talked about subjects leading up to the tourney. The point is that we must create a fair system for determining a national champion. There will always be controversy no matter what you do, but it will be greatly reduced if you have eight teams vying for the title over two.
