Fan feedback for FIFA games is taken seriously, says Electronic Arts.
Lead producer David Rutter describes feedback as one of the developer's three main mantras when developing a new FIFA game, alongside refining and innovation.
"When the game is launched, we'll listen to what the fans say, what they like and dislike, what they're happy with and want more of," he told Digital Spy.
Rutter said that feedback from forums and social networks such as Twitter is taken throughout the year, with responses to last year's installment FIFA 11 still taken on board.
While EA Canada has facilities for game and focus testing on the premises, as the majority of FIFA fans are in Europe the firm hosts community events months before a new game is released.
"[Recently] I was down in Guildford visiting the offices and we had 20, 25 people from the key community sites in to talk about their feelings on FIFA 11 and how they have extended time playing FIFA 12, giving us feedback, so we take it quite seriously," Rutter revealed.
Rutter added that critical reviews are also important, as well as review-aggregate websites such as Metacritic.
"Metacritic is important, it's one of the few places where you have an aggregated set of opinions that's kind of an average," he said.
"It's not the be-all and end-all, it's not like our jobs depend on it, but at the same time it's a very useful metric, which I guess why it's there."
FIFA 12 will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC from September 27 in North America and September 30 worldwide.
