I understand that some people completely dismiss the Olympics, but the NBC ratings were through the roof and most people I know were watching the Olympics. So its odd that ESPN gave virtually zero coverage of the Olympic results.

ESPN tries to operate like Citizen Kane (we'll make the news ourselves!), but it doesn't really work when ESPN doesn't show that many sporting events. They pretend that the Olympics aren't really "sports", yet they will spend time on Sportscenter giving recaps of poker games and spelling bees.

It's a slap in the face for their "WE COVER WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO SEE". You can't with a straight face say that people didn't want Olympic coverage, they did. The ratings on NBC proved people wanted to consume Olympic content.

I watch SC out of habit in the morning, although I've been flipping over to NFL AM. Not to say its outstanding or anywhere close to the programming on MLB Network, but its not nessessarily the shit show I thought it was going to be.

Also on last night's show, they showed a graphic detailing the Dolphins new WR depth chart.

With Chad Johnson cut, the top two Dolphins WR's are now Brian Hartline and Legedu Naanee. No disrespect, but good luck with that!

I'm guilty of always flipping on ESPN int he morning for SC. I rarely ever "watch" it. It's just always kind of on in the background. Habit I've had since I was in like 2nd or 3rd grade.

Same here, It's more of a peaceful feeling for me to have it on in the background

Have you guys seen NFL Networks morning show? Thoughts? I thought it was pretty bad...........they too made mention of Tebow's birthday within the first 10 seconds of the show. This is the world that we now live in where ratings > anything else. I'm sort of use to it now.

MLB Network actually shows highlights from every game. The midday coverage is outstanding because they don't try to make up stories to "fill holes" - they're proactive with those "holes" and fill them with live player/reporter interviews during BP and other pre-game warm-ups. They sign talents like Bob Costas to do their in-depth sit-down interviews.

It's the Lord's work. Everyone should support that network with their remote.

I love MLB Network. Really a quality channel with great content. NBATV doesn't have nearly the same amount of great insight and coverage during the season but they make up for it by the insane amount of old games they show.

MLB really takes you through the day nicely.

The Rundown sets up the day and previews everything.

MLB Tonight is fantastic. When there is no game that has my full attention, I watch that. They go around the league, do live look ins at key times, and talk about the days events as they unfold.

The Quick Pitch is great late at night if you've been out and need to catch up. This is what I put on if I want to see highlights, while ESPN is live from Jets camp or Jaws is talking about his 18th ranked QB.

The network itself would be near perfect if they let Mitch Williams go.

Of the league specific networks, MLB covers their offseason the best. Hot Stove Tonight, live every day from the winter meetings, Clubhouse Confidential (which was a groundbreaking show that took some guts to put on the air, since it flies in the face of a lot of old school baseball people, including people employed by the network itself).

Obviously I'm a huge fan of Clubhouse Confidential and I think it's done really well to not be a total "YOU IDIOTS THINK THIS, HERE'S WHAT IS ACTUALLY RIGHT". It's done exactly how I've wanted SABR integrated into shows, they just put it as apart of the package. They explain some of them but they don't hit you over the head with every stat ever. Great show.

What I like about the NFL Network, is they show all of the preseason games. I'm not a preseason guy, but if there is a place for preseason NFL games, it would be the leagues network. Filling the day with preseason games is better than the Rich Eisen NFL Total Access loop.

They air CFL games too, again, its a niche thing, but that's what niche networks are for.

The actual coverage on NFL Network is nothing to write home about, but it isn't terrible either. It's just....there. I think they leave a lot on the table in this regard. They are far less "tabloidy" than ESPN, however.

And the NFL's resistance to take advantage of their library of games is baffling. I have no idea why they don't air old games in their entirety. What NFL fan wouldn't watch the Ice Bowl or even some random Week 12 matchup from 1986?

NBC Sports Network is going to have something similar. I guess ESPN has the idea now that you need to have "experts aka ex-players" talk about things as opposed to showing highlights because highlights are boring.

This is where NBA TV shines for me. Yesterday they had games they showed in their entirety that had 50 point scorers from the 90s. One of those games was from iversons rookie year. Watched the whole game.

Show me a raiders chargers game from the early 80s, or the game where Steve Young and Jim Kelly passed for almost 1000 yards. Would much rather see that then their current daytime programming.

Offseason NBATV is appointment watching. Over the weekend they had championship clinchers, yesterday 50 pt games, it's amazing.
