I respect what he's done here and I don't dislike him. However, I think the main goal of every NFL franchise should be to win a championship. And he has not given any indication of being able to deliver one. Moving in another direction doesn't automatically mean we are going to start losing. Sounds like to me most of you see that as a foregone conclusion if he goes, which to me is kind of ridiculous.

As an eagle fan that grew up watching Randall Cunningham and that eagles offense get shit on by their own head coach, followed by many years of shit (Kotite, the black dude, etc.) before Reid came along, he is not over-rated. however he is just "rated."
for consistency and the ability to be right there, we have been so pretty much his entire tenure. What he did those years when he just had mcnabb, b-west, and chad lewis as offensive weapons (the starting receivers were james thrash and todd stinkston), phenominal. Do i feel they should've won at least 1 SB, yes. hell, they should've beat the cards in that NFC Champ game during the Mcnabb OT rules year.
I do believe that it might be time for the team and reid to part ways, azs long as there is a strong successor in the plans.
Oh and those run/pass ratio games mentioned before, those are what i call Andy Reid specials. is like they just get couped up in the lab and think they see something and don't want to bend during that game. the team usually plays better after having 1 of those games.
Oh and another stat, dude has only lost 1 game in his tenure coming off his bye. that's damn good coaching.

Gruden should not be on there. Marty's clock management in the playoffs is even worse than Reid's, although i believe he's a Great coach. Parcells ain't do shit his last 5 years in the league.

Cowher did win when he got Ben but let's not forget he did make it to the super bowl with Neil O'Donnel, but he did win, still zippo for the Mustache.

you say that like its a bad thing. Andy Reid made his long list of former quarterbacks look good. That means he looked at a guy like McNabb and thought "k, good enough, i can make this work." He brought the talent in, and his team is always mentioned as a major threat in the post season. Andy Reid's work with what he had is what makes him Andy Reid, though. The fact that he stocked up on junk food and threw out some veggies before they had expired doesnt diminish this. I mean, it's not really a criticism to say "he missed on personnel decisions" when its immediately followed with "but made the team good anyway". Even then, his roster moves are a debate, not an unquestioned liability : The Eagles are legendary for knowing exactly when to pull the plug on an aging veteran and the Eagles FO has definitely made its share of fantastic moves too (Mike Vick, sup)

A criticism of his de facto general manager skills holds alot more weight, to me, than a criticism of his coaching skills, but like W2B (who I believe would LITERALLY murder Jeff Fisher if it got him Andy Reid) alot of teams would kill for a guy who made them matter every year even if he didnt always hit on his personnel and maybe occasionally - ok more than occasionally - totally fucked up at clock management. He has his limitations. We all do. Not all of us are as good at something as Reid is at motivating players and making chicken salad out of chicken shit though. Neither are 9 guys out of 10 that you might hire to be Head Coach of an NFL team.

They got a big huge tony romo bad hold and got a "no, really, I ain't goin out like this" visit from Vinny Testaverde. in the case of both Pennington and Vinny they were earlier successes wheeled in to bail him out of current failures. You always heard about Parcells being loyal to his guys. I always took it as "because hes too much of an overrated douchebag to consistently develop new talent".

His Jets tenure, I can't really argue with, that was a roster that had alot of success even years after he was gone because of guys he brought in and developed. And his Giants work IS pretty legendary. But that guy was a fucking fraud collecting a paycheck his last two stops and I think this soapbox you got me on helped me decided who really WAS the most overrated coach ever. Old Parcells by a landslide.

Exactly. His dolphins teams weren't good by any stretch. what he did in NE and then the Jets was great, especially getting Curtis Martin to jump ship with him (ala Any Given Sunday). the Cowboys didn't win shit in the playoffs during his tenure with "The Player" (cause he was too cool to call Terrell by his name) and neither did the dolphins. neither team has been really relevant for the last 15 years or so and Parcells coached both during that time.

So you basically want a coach with a ring already, or else by what you're saying, they "can't" because they've never done it before.

As I'm sure Leaf would tell you, Gruden made chicken salad out of chicken shit in Tampa. Gruden is an amazing coach that I would take over Reid. I still don't believe Reid is overrated though. He has his faults but overall he's one of the best in the league.

Hes vastly overrated considering how you guys are speaking of him. Not one mention of Jim Johnson the Buddy Ryan of that team. It was his genius and his defense that people feared in Philadelphia. That offense was almost entirely predicated on short fields and multiple opportunities given to it by the Defense. I never took Phillys offense seriously . Theyre QB extended plays and there RBs were always a nightmare. But lol at his playcalling and gameplans at times.

As far as buying the groceries. Well Philly is extremely talented always has been. But who the fuck relies on the two most inaccurate throwers not named Culpepper or Tebow to lead there 80/20 pass ratio offense ??

Reid is a "good" coach. However the only thing special about that team during his tenure he had next to nothing to do with.

Just to clarify, what you quoted from me was in direct response to a post earlier about the success he had in spite of inferior talant and having Donovan McNabb at quarterback. I don't necessarily believe he had inferior talent nor do I think drafting McNabb was a mistake, I was just pointing out that Reid was respnsible for the personnel he coached.
