I'm not sure what's hard to understand about the post... his numbers were damn good for having such a lame supporting cast. No, his numbers weren't amazing until Moss and Welker but show me a QB who's put up those kind of numbers without a premier WR or two.

Probably should have clarified on the bold a bit more. After looking around at a lot of lists, seeing a lot of opinions, and listening to people, it seems as if most still see Tom Brady as a #1-#3 quarterback in the NFL. I'm not hating on the guy, I think he's phenomenal at what he does in the Patriots system because he clearly makes it work. However, there's no way (in my mind) that Brady's one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL today. Not too long ago, many had Brady and Manning as 1a/1b and people still try to find the Manning/Brady of this decade, but he's not that great of a quarterback to me. Then again, I guess he has been the second most successful quarterback of the decade.

I think each QB's OC plays a huge role. Manning has always had Moore, Brady won SBs with Weiss and put up huge numbers with the boy genius. A lot of what Drew Brees is able to do is because of Sean Payton's stat padding, varied offense.

Matt Cassell was awful for the Patriots. He inherited an 18-1 team with arguably the greatest passing offense in NFL history and missed the playoffs altogether. Even Daunte Culpepper "figured out" how to lob the ball to Moss.

Similar to Joe Montana winning 2 Super Bowls prior to Jerry Rice's arrival, I think people are forgetting how important Tom Brady was to those pre-Moss/Welker teams. Brady threw the ball on nearly every down some games. He was very accurate, and performed well in the postseason. Yeah, he had a great coach and a strong defense, but Brady played great himself, too. Its not like he did a Rex Grossman and rode his team's coattails to a Super Bowl.

For those of you knocking Brady and saying its the system, what more could Brady have done to impress you? Win 5 Super Bowls? Throw 60 TDs in a season?

Quitting the thread because they're similar? Low INT count, quiet numbers, pretty damn good quarterback last I checked. He's had some sort of postseason success. He wasn't ever terrible, he just got placed in situations that weren't in his favor, something Brady never had to deal.

I would give him another year or two before you forget about him. I'm not gonna harp on the fact that he came off a knee surgery or any of that bullshit, but it is something to think about. He was playing with a banged up offense for half the season including himself. Broken finger, ribs, hard to say if his knee was 100%. His running backs were hurt off and on and Maroney sucks to begin with. Taylor broke his ankle, Morris was out for most of the season and Maroney can't get past his own center.

I think it's tough to change the O-coordinator, plus come off a knee injury/deal with the rest of team/personal injuries, plus have a hot and cold - well, warm and cold - running game. There was really no rhythm to the offense whatsoever.

I'll give him another year or two, or possibly three to show some improvement before I throw in the towel. He's not done yet.

Thanked for the bolded. That's what I'm more or less getting at. It is a thought to at least consider. Time will tell, but I'm certainly putting him on watch.
