I would say that Streep's reign is current.
Good for you. I don't care about Meryl Streep, she's a woman. Her "current" reign is tainted by a lame Oscar win last year (The Iron Lady) and two unnecessary nominations for Julie and Julia and the Devil Wears Prada. The only two legitimate nominations during DiCaprio's run are Doubt and Adaptation, even though she's out shined by PSH in the former and she's not even fifth on the list of most impressive aspects of the latter.
Unbelievable that she went unnoticed for gems like It's Complicated, Prime, Mamma Mia, Lions for Lambs, Prairie Home Companion, The Manchurian Candidate.
So since DiCaprio's post-Titanic breakout role (Gangs of New York - 2002), Streep had 5 Oscar Nominations (1 Supporting), 1 win (2011 - The Iron Lady that I couldn't even bring myself to watch and I've seen some shit), 2 unjustified (Julie & Julia, The Devil Wears Prada), 1 above average performance (Adaptation. - earned her Best Supporting Actress Nomination), 1 amazing performance (Doubt - Best Actress Nomination), 1 easily done voice performance (Fantastic Mr. Fox), 1 great HBO Miniseries Performance (Angels in America) and 6 pieces of absolute trash.
DiCaprio has made 10 movies since 2002 - Gangs of New York, Catch Me If You Can, The Aviator, The Departed, Revolutionary Road, J Edgar, Blood Diamond, Inception, Body of Lies and Shutter Island.
I would say go fuck yourself.
