seriously though, Patterson will wait to see what TCU does, and honestly they might move to the BE to try and keep him in Ft Worth... even still, him nor Peterson would seriously consider leaving their respective schools unless their salaries are doubled...

I've heard that Peterson isn't going anywhere for a while, something about his son being special needs and not wanting to uproot his family.

Patterson is a great coach, IMO, and is the hottest commodity in college coaching at the time, but I don't know if he would be a good fit in South Florida recruiting wise. I'd love to see his defense though with those athletes.

The ACC sucks, too...your point? It is what makes Randy's tenure in Miami even worse...he couldn't win a putrid conference.

Supposedly there is legit interest, at least on UM's end in regards to Gruden. There is supposedly some interest back.

I don't see it happening, but per those involved directly with the sitch, he is our #1 choice and we are unleashing hell to get him.

It could all be a screen...however, I wouldn't expect Shannon to be fired in the manner he was fired along with Kirby Hocutt having a press conference where he declares that it is unacceptable for Miami to be irrelevant in college football along with telling the press that "money isn't an issue" if they weren't landing, and in the mix for a legitimate big fish. Stay tuned, I guess.

I really hope they get this right. Miami not on the NC scene or even near it hurts, Michigan sucking is one thing, but the U sucking is a whole other issue.

Wouldnt mind seeing Gruden do it, but fear that Gruden will leave too soon even if he does take the job. Patterson would be nice, but i dont think hell leave. Im kinda meh about Chris Peterson.

What about a guy like Mike Stoops. Win/loss record is kinda shit, but turned Az around from bottom feeder to respectable with no resources.

I think some of what you are sayiing is right. Schiano definately can get away with these 7 win years at Rutgers, they have no fans and the fans they do have are just happy to not be going 3-8 every year.

Where I disagree with you guys, is I believe he is a very overated recruiter. Yes, the talent level is worlds ahead of where they were, but ever since that really good group that almost went to the BCS has moved on, he hasnt followed up. He had 10-12 pros on those teams. How many pros does he have now? No more than one or two.

Schiano is a good (not great) recruiter, a great motivator, a great PR guy, and a below average game day coach. I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first few years, but he is a bad sideline guy. Can't manage the game, does wacky shit that makes no sense.

This is a moot point, Miami isnt hiring him. His name came up last time, too.

The problem remains that for whatever reason, RU still can't recruit in the state of New Jersey. There is talent here. He just can't get it to stay. Either that, or like so many of the previous regimes, he's not even trying to.

That's sad.

The likelihood just seems astronomically low of GRUDEN (fuckin Jon Gruden) going to Miami. I just doubt it regardless of what the guys close to former assistants are saying.

Yeah, there is smoke...but its just something so out in left field for me to comprehend.

If it happens...awesome. I'd rather have Patterson or Petersen (COLLEGE GUYS with elite resumes)...but you don't pass on Gruden.
