^if you guys wait to long, lose recruits, and then hire some bum ass coach like Gary Crowton, you will have a hard time getting recruits to buy in... they shouldnt even have wasted their time on gruden, and now they are playing catch up, and if you think recruits dont pay attention/care about this process, you are living in some shitty alternate reality...
It has only been a week...

I could make a list twice as long...I mean...there isn't a shortage of coaches out there.
Miami has never had a "glam" hire. The guys they got were of a different breed.
-Schnelly was an NFL coordinator.
-Johnson was a well coaching gypsy whose last stop before Coral Gables had him build up an Oklahoma State team that was inconsistent at best, and left the school in the hands of Pat Jones that ended up giving Oklahoma State a run they haven't had before or since (84-88, the Gundy, Dykes, Sanders, Thomas years)
-Erickson was a guy out in the Pacific Northwest that built up Idaho, and built up Washington State before going to Miami...he was a guy that had a gimmicky offense (Air Express)
-Butch was an NFL guy that had expertise at coaching defense.
None of these guys were glam or wow hires...but we got away from that by hiring bums from within.
I don't need a glam hire. Gruden would have been nice...but Miami doesn't need a mastermind either. I'd be perfectly happy and excited with Mike Leach who is unemployed, sitting at home in Key West, drinking Margaritas with Jimmy Johnson, and suing everybody possible. Guy reminds me of a more intelligent Dennis Erickson. Gimmicky offense that could be developed into a more traditional one with a run attack (see Holgorsen at Okie State) with a 'I don't give a fuck' attitude. Puts people off, sure...and he'd never get the Miami job after his interview the last time around, but he'd literally be going out to every game with his middle fingers in the air, never taking his foot off the gas pedal.
