I do know one thing is that Flacco makes some elite throws several times a game. Whether it is getting the ball in tight coverage or throwing deep he usually always gets the ball where only the WR can make a play on it. He has the most talented arm in the game. He doesn't have the consistency yet to be put on the Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers level, but he certainly is at an equal level of the next group of guys (E. Manning, Big Ben, etc)

Perception is reality. If that catch is made people would perceive him differently. He actually win a SB last season in addition to this season then he would surely be looked at in a different light.

Reasonable minded people knew Flacco was capable of leading a team to a championship before this season, and i thi k the comments after dave's infamous post show that.

With that said, for me nothing I saw this season greatly changed my view of Flacco. I ought he was a solid, capable QB before this season, and i still think he's a solid capable QB. He's not Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers. Winning a Super Bowl doesnt magically flick that switch for me. It's a total sum of all the parts. I dont overrate one game or even one postseason. Peole jumped that gun with Eli.

What is strange is that people did that with Eli, but not with Big Ben. I guess it is because of the sensationalism around the throws that he made, where as the perception with Big Ben's first SB win was that the defense carried him, but with the second SB win he did have that sideline throw to Holmes to win the game. I think people actually forget that he has 2 SB's.

Also has a lot to do with NY vs PA. Media manipulation will stray towards Eli 100% of the time.
 
Eli didnt get the praises of "elite" until after his second SB. The consensus always said that 1st SB was a product of that defense. Similar situation with Ben.
 
Can anyone define elite to me? Cause to me, elite means he will win you more games than with the average QB, which would include about 10 different guys around the league. If you have a different definition of elite though, you'd bash my list, groan me, and say how I'm an idiot because my list is different than your's.
