That's why they have jobs in the NFL and the other 99% of people to ever throw a football don't. Flacco seems to be pretty similar to Eli Manning. Shaky in regular season, can win you games but also lose them, and seems to turn it on in the playoffs. Both of them have rode hot defenses and timely playmaking to rings, and both will see the monetary reward for that. Since they're both Super Bowl winners, both will soon be financially compensated by people who actually understand the value of a NFL QB, and are making their claim to legitimacy in the league, does it really matter if they are "elite"?

What is an "Elite" QB?

Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers are both automatic top-3 QB's because they are "elite" and are "winners." The elite argument just seems to be too convenient.

Is it fair to say that guys like Brady/Manning/Rodgers have made their scheme as much as the scheme makes them? I feel like that's an argument which can go either way, it's far too easy to take credit away from QB's and simply attribute it to the scheme.

The 11-5 Patriots, who still failed to make the playoffs and played one of the weaker schedules in the league that year, are somehow a representation of all that Tom Brady has done as a QB? Tom Brady's been through three different "schemes" by now, if you want to look at Tom Brady as a whole. There's 2001-2006 TOm Brady, who grew as a player but was more of a play-action/screen type passer, to the wide open Randy Moss spread attack of 2007-2010, and now they have the intermediate routes with Welker combined with a 2 TE attack.

The Patriots have retooled their team on three separate occasions, implementing three different "schemes" which Brady has had success with.

There is four elite QB's in the NFL today. Brady, Brees, Rodgers and Manning. Naming 6-8 QB's as an "elite" title is ridiculous. That's 25% of the league right there. Four is sort of a push but basically the upper 10% of QB's in the league should be considered elite in my opinion.

So if the 49ers return that kick for a touchdown as the clock expires, is Joe Flacco still elite even though he had no effect on the outcome of that play? Does that make Colin Kaepernick elite? If Kaep gets hurt and Alex Smith comes in and mounts a comeback, is he now considered elite in your eyes? I'm seriously trying to understand how you see things because it literally is the stupidest way to view quarterbacks.

I'm not sure if he is elite by the standards set by Brady, Manning, Rodgers, but he is on that second tier with Roethlisberger and Eli, which is good enough to win a SB. I do know he will be paid like he is elite. Either way, I don't care.....he seems to be elite in the playoffs. It does feel good to know that people will get off of Flacco's back. It is also interesting that both guys who claimed to be elite won a SB in that same year.
