I personally don't think Cutler is a bad QB, it's just some coaches don't want the liability of an inconsistent interception machine and would prefer someone more trustworthy with the football.

I agree with McDaniels here, thought I'd want to see a lil more from Cassel before I'd say one is truly a better choice, but c'mon get off Cutler's jock right now.

He's thrown 37 INTERCEPTIONS in just 44 GAMES. 1 INT per 32 attempts. With 24 Fumbles in 44 Games. He's a lock to turn the ball over 1.5 times per game at this point.



Cassel on the other hand has 1 INT per 42 attempts and just 10 fumbles in 30 games.


Look at your past SB champions in the past 10-15 years. Are there 4500 yard passers winning superbowls? Or are their defences and teams that win the turnover battle winning superbowls? Which one is more frequent?



The NFL is in the business of winning, not fancy passing statistics. Just ask Drew Brees.

I agree. I think much of his success came from playing with the Pats but at the same time I think he's learned enough and has enough talent to be a good starter on any team.

But why? I mean, how do we know that he wasn't the one making the success on that team? And another point that people aren't acknowledging when they say how any QB could've done what he did; the Patriots of last year were not at all close to the Patriots of 18-1, they were absolutely decimated by injuries, almost half their team.

And the Patriots did not carry Cassel into 11-5 season that literally almost every other season would have been good for the playoffs, he carried the Pats.

But still, NOONE KNOWS whether or not he will succeed in KC, so anyone that is sure of themselves of either way is just plain foolish. You can't call someone a system QB if they've only played in one system.

But I will absolutely be rooting for him, I loved the guy.

Last I checked the Chiefs don't have Moss or Welker to throw to. Or an overpowering O-line. Fact is that whatever he accomplished in NE had to be influenced that his first starts since high school happened to be with the team with some of the best offensive tools in the game.

Alright, then what about Kurt Warner? Is he a good quarterback? He had Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin and the same o-line starting every game (unlike the Pats, who had Stephen Neal miss 5 games and Nick Kaczur miss 2). What I'm merely saying is that you can't judge a QB by who plays around him.

When you watched Cassel at the end of the season, he looked like a good QB, sure he had Wes Welker and Moss, but he still had to put the ball where it had to be and to lead the team. (without a run game or strong defense) Which he did, successfully, more than any other player on that team.

And I think that makes him promising.

Kurt Warner I would say yes. He has repeated his success on different teams (even if the rams were loaded.) He has shown that he is a perfect QB for the spread style offense. If Cassell can prove that he can have the same success on multiple teams then I will admit that he is a great QB. Right now though he is just a decent QB that played with stars.

Granted the Chiefs got a great deal getting him cause Thigpen is the shits.

Again, but why? So if a QB plays well with a team, and the team happens to be good, the by default that QB must not be good, but just the team?

And why is Kurt Warner granted an exception from your rule? Even if the rams were loaded?-- That discredits the whole thing. If they are loaded and the Cards are loaded and he played well for them, that must mean its the team, not the QB. He must be a system QB, after all, he didn't perform that well during his stint with the not-loaded Giants. What happened there?

The Pats had the 6th best running game and the 10th best defense, so they had both a good running game and a strong defense.

In comparison, the Cardinals had the 32nd ranked rushing offense and the 19th ranked defense, so Warner was much more a part of their success.

sorry not very clear, I wasn't trying to compare Warner to Cassel, obviously Warner is a good QB, we know that by how he plays the game. But he was saying that because Cassel performed relatively well on a good team, that he was just a decent QB surrounded by stars. Now, he could be a poor QB or a fantastic one-- nobody knows. But to judge a QB by the talent around them is silly, that was why I brought in Warner, because he is a QB that is (probably) heading to the HOF, that for almost all his career was surrounded by good talent, is he just a decent QB surrounded by stars?-- no.

I didnt take the time to read all 6 pages but I have seen people say "well he's up and coming" or "He's lost all these games" But those same people have him ranked better than Romo in the top 10 QB thread.
