Their "look at how many Sumo Hall shows they have now compared to before" argument is really, really, REALLY stupid.
It's akin to saying, well WWE runs half the dates they did in the Hogan-era so Cena isn't a big deal. Or simply, "They were on MTV in 1983 and NBC in 1985 and now they are on SyFy, Ion and USA, Cena sucks"
It's just completely disregarding the shift in pro wrestling in general from an entertainment establishment to a niche. It also complete disregards where Japan and NJPW specifically were BEFORE Tanahashi. The very fact that they are saying how the "masses" like Tanahashi is to me, a part of his resume. I don't think it's completely by accident that he happens to be their top star as they explode onto the scene. Sure, a lot of it has to do with technology but Dragon Gate is on iPPV too and nobody gives a shit.
