CBB is one of the only sports where a team could lose EVERY regular season game and still make a conference tournament and then the championship tournament. Yep, their regular season matters.

Again, CBB is its own thing. It has a market in March and overall, most people don't care about it any other month. Even in March, people only care about it for as long as their bracket is alive. Football could do wonders with a playoff, but it needs to be done right. Getting rid of 30% of the season and making it just a playoff would be an awful idea. However, making it a 4 team playoff with just conference champions is a very solid start.

Because they won their conference. I don't give a shit if the Non-AQ conferences are weaker. The level of competition is relative and they deserve a shot at knocking off the big boys. They'd receive lower seeds anyways.

32 teams isn't too large. 6 is way too fucking small and it still pushes out all the non-AQ conferences.

And the primary goal of a playoff system should be to get the teams that earn it in and objectively crown a champion. If you do that correctly the excitement and intensity will be there. Doing it the other way is backwards.

I'm all for taking the top four conference champions in the BCS rankings. It makes the regular season matter since you have to win your OOC games and your conference to even have a shot. It gives a playoff so people will see it as legitimate. Finally, it does away with stupid AQ bids. This isn't the top four BCS conference champions, this is the top four conference champions. Whether it be a small school or a big one, I don't care, I just want to see them get a shot without making the season worthless.

Don't count conference championships. Barely any teams get those.

I'm cutting out two games for the vast majority of teams. Most of those teams suck anyways.

Plus, I'd be down to keep it at 12 games. But I imagine most people would complain about the season being "too long".

Sorry, but if you're a 1 seed and you lose to an 8-seed (32 team playoffs don't have 16-seeds), you don't look like a champion to me. You look like an overrated sack of shit.

Give me a playoff in which teams have to work for it for a little more than a month. I want a brutal gauntlet of games, not some Maxi-Pad tourney that lasts one weekend.

Theres no magic rule that says every conference champ should get in, and especially not with the gap from best conferences to worst.

Sigh. You earn your way in with your regular season resume. You don't get gifted an auto bid, then earn your way in after the fact. There's no way there should be a #32 overall seed, I don't care how they end up performing. I dont ever remember watching a cfb season where I felt 32 teams earned their way into a postseason.

2011 - LSU, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Wisconsin
2010 - Auburn, Oregon, TCU, Wisconsin
2009 - Alabama, Texas, Cincinnati, TCU
2008 - Oklahoma, Florida, USC, Utah

That's just the last four years and there were mid-majors in three of the four.

Again, a good playoff systems keeps the regular season as important, but allows for things to be settled on the field at the end of the season for the teams that earned a shot. Winning a conference doesn't necessarily mean you earned a shot at the title.

They've earned the right to compete against other conference champs in a playoff, like I said if the gap in class is as big as people like to make it out to be, it really shouldn't be an issue. This isn't about saying a team shouldn't be in because they are from a different conference, I don't want to see a 8-4 Big East team just like I don't want to see an 8-4 Sun Belt team. A four loss team shouldn't be in the discussion for the championship. On the other hand, I would definitely prefer a system that would take a 12-0 MWC team over some team from a power conference who didn't even win their division.

A four team playoff is too subjective, if you have every conf champ get a playoff berth then no-one can complain, if you don't win your conference then tough shit you don't get to play for a NC.
