Manning Headed to Denver

Why would Tebow wanna sit for another 3 years? Fox likely sees no use for him and will trade him to whoever bites and pick up a QB in the 3rd or 4th round.

Manning's relationship with Elway is something that he couldn't get with any other organization. That put them over the top.

Almost as if Elway pulled Manning aside and promised him some 98/99 Broncos type of shit.

And btw the Tebow thing would never work. Manning isn't going to give anyone any snaps in practice the dude has been operating like that for the entirety of his career.

Tennessee and Denver cannot match those weapons.

With the addition of Eric Winston at RT, KC's line goes from solid to pretty damn good.

Defensively, the Chiefs are better than the Broncos and Titans. #11 in the league last year without Eric Berry. When Justin Houston came on at the end of the year opposite Tamba Hali, KC's D was filthy.

The Chiefs have play makers everywhere except QB. They also had the cap room to bring in Jeff Saturday, and a need for a veteran center. It was a great situation for Manning, but I don't think he wanted to live in KC or deal with the front office.

After Peyton Manning became available, four teams met with him: the Broncos, Cardinals, Dolphins, and Titans.

Two others got stiff-armed: the Seahawks and Chiefs.

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that the Seahawks actually loaded up a plane and flew to Denver while Peyton was meeting with the Broncos earlier this month. But Peyton wouldn’t alter his schedule to meet with the Seahawks.

The end result is the same — no Manning in Seattle. But it wasn’t because the Seahawks didn’t try.

Not sure why people are so baffled that Manning chose Denver. The Super Bowl path is much easier through the AFC where you don't have to deal with great teams like GB, SF, NO, and pretty good teams like the Giants, Detroit, Philly, Atlanta, etc.

Denver has a good defense, and decent enough WR's that are going to immediately look like world beaters playing with Manning, who makes every Terrence Wilkins and Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie and Blair White that he plays with much better than they really are.

Denver went from suck for Luck to a deep playoff run with Tebow, who as we all know is the worst QB to ever live (eye roll). Manning makes any team an instant SB contender, so this should be easy. Assuming health, they are my SB favorite in the AFC.

I hate stuff like this. What you mean to say is the Chargers are 4-1 against the Colts with Rivers at the helm. QBs do not compete directly against each other, they compete against defenses. ESPN has popularized this head to head notion amongst quarterbacks when each has little to no effect on how the other performs.

Thomas and Decker are nice and all, but who do they have beyond that? Also, Thomas is raw as fuck coming out of that offense at Ga Tech. Then he started to learn a pro offense in Denver, then they ran whatever the fuck they were running with Tebow, and now he's going to have to go back to learning how to run a normal offense with Manning. Let's not act like that transition is going to be seamless.

Plus, those guys really benefited from the style of offense under Tebow. Teams loaded the box to stop the option bullshit, and Decker and Thomas often had single coverage on the outside with one safety over the top or no safety help. Now with Manning and a normal system, they won't have that same luxury nearly as often.

I don't see the running game being as effective either. Without the threat of Tebow and a gimmick offense, McGahee is basically the 3.8 ypc guy he was in Baltimore in 2010.

The AFC West race is going to be really interesting and not nearly the cakewalk people are assuming.

Remember how it was the great Denver defense that carried them to that win streak? How it all just so happened to come together at the right time, how Tebow was lucky and had nothing to do with it, despite the lack of turnovers and increased time of possession that the Tebow led offense provided?

But yeah, smashing retarded Tebow hater narratives aside, I do think the Denver defense is a good defense, and will benefit from the same type of TOP they benefited under with Tebow, because Manning has proved to be the best in the business at masking soft defenses by extending drives, something he did for a decade in Indy.

Meh we're gonna sign Mike Bush and Decker and Thomas had to make so many route adjustments last season downfield it was ridiculous. A lot of their catches were just jump balls that they won.

The two are both very talented physically and I can't wait to see what they can do when they actually know where the ball will land.

The O-Line is much better run blocking than pass blocking, with the one exception being Clady who will now be blocking the QBs blind side, a mission left to a totally unprepared Orlando Franklin last season.

I mean as good as you're making the Chiefs close to the season out to be, don't you think they should have beaten a Denver team in which Tebow went 3/8 passing the ball? And then you only put up 7 points and beat us in week 17... Do you really think that happens with Manning under center for us?

You're best skill players not named Bowe are all coming back from injuries that were catastrophic and it's only an assumption at this point to say they will be 100% of what they were before the injuries.

Oh and Romeo Crennel is the head coach.

Yeah, let's talk about that Denver O-line. 42 sacks given up last year. That number will go down with Manning's quick release, but then you may have a timing issue with new receivers to worry about.

Funny you mention the first game vs. KC and Romeo being the head coach. I'd say Romeo schemed up Timmy quite nicely in the 2nd game.

Really wasn't much of a shot at Tebow...just pointing out the differences in offenses and how that will impact the players that Denver will actually play. Carry on in your Tebow argument that nobody is having with you...

The last time the Chiefs played Manning, he had a 65 QB rating. Now, Manning is older, more fragile, and the Chiefs defense is better. Secondly, I couldn't care less that Denver is the favorite. It's like pre-season polls in college sports. Means shit to me. Who was the favorite to win the AFC West the last 2 years? San Diego? How'd that work out?
