Mark Emmert, three months ago: "We will never pay the athletes"

Quit being a fucking baby. I ignored your question, then answered it later on. I even had to point out the fact that I answered it because you were too :rage: over something I never even said to notice.

Learn to read or STFU.

I know how to read and you didnt answer shit, you're only trying to argue with me & multi-quote me to death, im interested in the actual discussion thats going on, i dont feel like ruining a good thread just for you, if you wanna argue so bad PM me or wait for the thread to die on its own.

ZoneblitZ said:
You havent answered my question, i asked you why MIGHT your stupid rule be needed...saying "it might not be needed" IS NOT a fucking answer.
LOL.

Still can't read.

"My" rule?

I never said I was in favor of any "rule". I said let the kids pay for schooling themselves. I never once said "make a rule", have this be a rule, here's an idea for a rule, whatever.

YOU ARE THE ONE THAT BROUGHT UP THE RULE.

The first time I actually addressed any "rule" I said it "might not be needed", even though the schools would be in favor of the "rule" if it exited. I never supported any rule, never even came up with it. You injected a bunch of raving overregulation bullshit.

You went :rage: on it and failed to realize I never said there should be a rule made. Just that the schools would see a chance to get out of paying out money for scholarships if your awful Mad max world existed. I never said the NCAA would have to regulate it, just that the schools wouldn't see the need to hand out scholarships.

Quit trying to take your illiterately fuled ass whipping into private you chickien shit faggot.

And i said the schools would WANT TO pay for the scholarships, because they would want any advantage to get prized recruits.

If you werent such a retard you'd realize that schools today are under no obligation or "rule" to give scholarships, they do so willingly because they want good players & good teams & revenue.

The schools would be in favor of the "rule" if it was ever created. Would it "need" to be? Maybe not.

Here is more proof of your retardation. When you say "maybe not", it implies that maybe yes. So i asked you what reason could there possibly be for schools wanting that rule, and since you are a piece of shit you didnt answer & continued your usual asshole tactics.

If you werent such a retard you'd realize that schools today are under no obligation or "rule" to give scholarships,
I was on scholarship.

I know how they work.

Here is more proof of your retardation. When you say "maybe not", it implies that maybe yes.
Ok?!

Then again I never brought up "rules" to begin with.

YOU DID.

Not me.

I never said I was in favor of any rule.

Ever.

So to label it "my rule" and have me defend it is beyond retarded when I never said to make a rule.

You went :rage: and started blathering on about overregulation, making rules, free market etc.

So i asked you what reason could there possibly be for schools wanting that rule
I don't know because I never said I'd want any rule to begin with.

How and why can I come up with reasons for supporting a "rule" that I didn't invent, want, come up with, or even think about?

YOU brought up a/the "rule".

Not me.

My statement is and was: Let the kids pay for school (if they can make outside endorsement money.)

That's it.

Fucking nutjob.

Keep trying dumbass.

So basically you're just arguing for the hell of it right?

You dont want a rule, you just say "let the players pay for scholarships", and i say "the schools would want to continue paying for it", and thats pretty much it...the rest of the argument is just because you're a sad, pathetic, useless piece of shit who loves to ruin threads.

That would destroy college & pro football, most of the best players wouldnt qualify.

Really? Doesn't seem to affect pro baseball or hockey. I'm sure the NFL would find some way to develop these players if the NCAA decided to only use kids that wanted to be college athletes.

I see this as a two way street. Yes, the kids sign an agreement that lays out a number of stipulations that need to be followed in order to be eligible as a college athlete. But the school also needs to be held accountable for the things that can/will go wrong when going into a business agreement with a 17/18 year old kid.

Now, I think the simple solution is to offer football only scholarships. if dudes really dont want the education, why shove it down their throat? if a guy is only there to play football, dont give him a scholarship, just let him play football and let him make his own money. I never really understood why the NCAA forces guys to sit through, say, an archaeology class, when he's there to learn how to be a professional athlete. It would be like making someone who is studying to be a doctor go field punts.

???

What is a football only scholarship? Are they getting a scholarship at all? If so, what would be the point if they don't have to attend class? If not, then what is a football only scholarship? Are schools offering "football" to people without the education? If so, how is that beneficial to the player?

No one cares about minor league baseball/hockey or ncaa baseball/hockey. The best players in those sports are usually drafted right out of high school & dont have education crammed down their throats.

His point is it doesnt have to be beneficial, you shouldnt force a player to attend classes when he doesnt want to.

I wouldnt call it a "football only" scholarship, because the player should be allowed to study if he wants to, but he shouldnt be forced to if he doesnt want to. If he chooses to just play football & hope to be drafted, that should be his choice to make.

Probably the same % of baseball players in the minor leagues that never make it to the big leagues, but at least they got paid for playing baseball right out of high school.

If baseball players have the right to skip education & just play (in the minor leagues), so should football players (in the NCAA which is the NFL's minor league).

It shouldnt be the NCAA's job to cram education & abstinence from money down players throats. NCAA is nothing more than a glorified minor league with forced education & no money.

Unless you are a high draft choice, minor league baseball players don't make jack. A college football player's scholarship is much more valuable than the peanuts you make in the minors playing baseball. I know a guy who played in the minors straight out of high school. He was pretty good, played about 8 years in the minors. But he didn't make much money, and every couple years he had to move his family to a new city, and now he's in his late-20's with no money, no home, and no job options.

Football players have the "right" to skip education and just play. They do have minor league football teams. They also have the CFL and some form of Waffle League.

It doesnt matter if they make jack or make alot, point is they make something, and they focus on their sport.

You know thats an unrealistic option, their chances of being drafted are extremely slim going any route other than the NCAA.

No one cares about minor league baseball/hockey or ncaa baseball/hockey. The best players in those sports are usually drafted right out of high school & dont have education crammed down their throats.

Kind of a defeatist argument. No one cares about minor league baseball/hockey...there is no money to be made in those areas...players on those teams don't make any money. But its the college football and basketball players who are put out because they are only receiving a college education and 5 years of room and board?

Yes, the system is retarded the way its set up, and I am all for the revenue-producing athletes getting some money on the side, but you are making it sound as if these 19-year old football players could be making millions of dollars if only they had a league of their own outside the NCAA. Well, whats stopping them? Whats stopping you from starting this new NFL minor league Shangri-La?

His point is it doesnt have to be beneficial, you shouldnt force a player to attend classes when he doesnt want to.

I didn't know players were forced to attend class. I don't know what college you went to, but at my college the football players were notorious for missing classes.

I wouldnt call it a "football only" scholarship, because the player should be allowed to study if he wants to, but he shouldnt be forced to if he doesnt want to. If he chooses to just play football & hope to be drafted, that should be his choice to make.

Many professors at colleges just want to focus on their research, they don't want to have to take time to teach classes. I guess they shouldn't be forced to teach classes. Many students at colleges just want their degree, they don't want to have to attend classes and pass exams. I guess they shouldn't be forced to attend class. Sounds like a great college, where no educating ever takes place.

You dont want a rule
Holy shit! You finally caught on!

the rest of the argument is just because you're a sad, pathetic, useless piece of shit who loves to ruin threads.
LOL at this coming from someone who can't read.

Isn't that the SEC?

They dont make nearly as much as basketball/football players would make, but the point is at least they make something.

Yes, the system is retarded the way its set up, and I am all for the revenue-producing athletes getting some money on the side

Im glad we agree on that.

but you are making it sound as if these 19-year old football players could be making millions of dollars if only they had a league of their own outside the NCAA. Well, whats stopping them? Whats stopping you from starting this new NFL minor league Shangri-La?

The fact that it wouldnt be nearly as successful as NCAA football/basketball. If you had a team called the Texas Stallions with the same players currently on the Texas Longhorns, they wouldnt have anywhere near the fans UT does & not generate anywhere near the same amount of money.

I dont see why players should be forced to study when they dont want to.

It doesnt matter if they make jack or make alot, point is they make something, and they focus on their sport.

And I guess college football players aren't getting a paid education and 5 years of room and board. And they aren't allowed to "focus on their sport" the way minor league baseball players can. How do I know? Because so few college football players get drafted by the NFL.

LOL at "focus on their sport". On one hand, you are saying college athletics interferes with a person's ability to "focus on their sport", and on the other hand you are saying the only way a person can get into the NFL is by participating in college athletics. Which is it?

You know thats an unrealistic option, their chances of being drafted are extremely slim going any route other than the NCAA.

There are many NFL players who never went to college. Its not a huge amount, but its not completely unheard of.

I'm surprised the NFL even bothers with drafting college players. They are usually so unfocused.

I didn't know players were forced to attend class. I don't know what college you went to, but at my college the football players were notorious for missing classes..

You know what the point is. If players dont attend classes enough to pass them, they cant play.

Student cant get their degree unless they attend classes (duh).

Professors chose that job, if they dont like it they can take their talents elsewhere.

And I guess college football players aren't getting a paid education and 5 years of room and board. And they aren't allowed to "focus on their sport" the way minor league baseball players can. How do I know? Because so few college football players get drafted by the NFL.

No they are not getting paid money, they are given an education which many of them dont want & wont need.

LOL at "focus on their sport". On one hand, you are saying college athletics interferes with a person's ability to "focus on their sport", and on the other hand you are saying the only way a person can get into the NFL is by participating in college athletics. Which is it?

You know its both.

There are many NFL players who never went to college. Its not a huge amount, but its not completely unheard of.

You love to use extremely rare examples & miss the point.
