The only way I ever raised it was through multiplayer and I got it to 100%. The rating seems to go down over time though so I had to go play multiplayer real quick before I could start the final mission.

My thoughts sort of echo JHen's...

 

First and foremost, this has been said to be the end of Shepard's story. And it is. But in such underwhelming fashion, at least for me.

The kid... fuck that was so stupid. In the beginning of the game in the vent, getting on the ship and locking eyes with Shepard and then blowing up, in his dreams, and then showing up at the end in that form. Ugh. Hated it.

I chose to walk into the synthesis beam, merging organics and synthetics to create peace across the galaxy. So, self sacrifice. BUT, no matter what I chose, the relays were going to be destroyed, and things would be changed forever. Not to mention, the relays, when destroyed, are supposed to wipe out the entire system they are in. So... what the hell? What happens to all those races that are on Earth? They're stuck there? How exactly did my crew get BACK onto the Normandy and on some strange planet? How will they(I saw Edi+Joker and Liara get off the Normandy) survive alone?

It's a cliff hanger. I have many questions, and the game hardly gave me closure. Shepard dying is not closure. I'd almost rather everyone die, just so I knew, that was it. But that would mean no Mass Effect game, of any kind. And that'd be very sad.

The post credits stuff probably hints at what's next. But it still doesn't change how I feel about what happened.

 

I didn't like the kid in general, but I was okay with him showing up at the end. I interpreted it as whatever entity sensing that it would be the best way to convince Shepard of what was best, since the kid was on his mind all game. I think the internet raging and calling him "Starkid" is an overreaction.

Maybe the reason I didn't mind it is because my ending was satisfying to me. I killed off all synthetic life and the relays, and sort of "rebooted" the cycle. Joker, Garrus, Liara got out of the Normandy on a jungle planet and the game ended with the idea that things would start over.

As I said, I don't think there would be a way to satisfy anyone with the ending to this trilogy, just because of the sheer scope. But when I finished, I was satisfied with what I got. I've seen internet reports that almost make my head explode as people delve into every nuance of the ending and are just furious. Literally furious. I guess despite my love for the the trilogy, I just don't have time for that.

I can appreciate that it was a disappointing end for people, but it does end in a rather open-ended way for everyone basically except for Shepard, The Illusive Man, and Anderson. But I can understand why and it doesn't bother me. I don't know if it would be possible to make every possible ending to the trilogy, technically at least.

Okay I'm done babbling on. Going to start my FemShep and try to deal with how annoying Kaiden is.

No doubt. I didn't even have the Renegade/Paragon dialogue options late in my playthrough because I was trying to do the minimum and stick to the Primary missions to finish the game. I still have at least two more playthroughs of this game to go through.

The multiplayer only affects the multiplier for each system's battle effectiveness rating. So, playing a lot of multiplayer in the Terminus systems map makes it easier to fill up your readiness bar by changing the effective force of races from the Terminus systems from 50% to, say, 70% for example. In other words, multiplayer makes it easier to fill your readiness bar without having to do every side mission.

Ran with a four man crew of Adepts... Warp Bombs for days... like we needed that shit to breathe.

After that, 3 Adepts and a Soldier.

I boosted from Level 1 to 9 in two games with all the assists and objectives I cleared.

It's completely unnecessary to complete the game though. It really only is there if you want to basically do none of the sidequests/fetch quests and still get the "best" ending. I finished with a Strength rating of like 6900+ and even cut in half due to the 50% readiness thing, it was far more than enough.

Nah, Nevermind, you aren't missing anything. It's a little confusing. MP is all that effects galactic readiness. Basically, galactic readiness serves as a decrease of your military strength. So if it's at 50% (i.e. - you played NONE of the MP), then your military strength will be cut in half. Sidequests don't effect the galactic readiness, they just make your military strength so high that the 50% decrease doesn't matter.

I don't know what your exact number needs to be to fill the "victory bar" up to full, but I imagine it is in the 3000 range, because I hit it well before finishing and I had almost 7000 and a 52% readiness percentage.

Does that make sense? Really, from what I've read, you ONLY need to play the MP for a single achievement, and even then that achievement can be gotten with a "perfect" playthrough of ME1-3 (with all DLC including From Ashes) -- (with "perfect" meaning, literally NO ONE dies -- so full paragon).

There are definitely aspects of the ending past a certain point that didn't seem "right", which is mostly likely due to having rushed it (which I hope isn't the case) but I guess COULD be due to this theory. My problem is, if it's true, Bioware probably found the best way to fully enrage those people that hate them (not that those people will ever NOT buy a game). Could you imagine if they had to

 

do something like Bethesda where they "fixed" the ending with DLC? In part it would cause fanboys to shit themselves, but on the other hand it would be pretty douchey of them considering how much they touted that this would be the finale and choice would matter.

The spoilers in there are minor, but I would avoid them if you haven't beaten the game anyway, just because they do somewhat allude to the ending.

I was saving the destroy the Reapers choice for my 2nd play through where I'd do all the side missions + have Javik. I'll have to play multiplayer a bunch to get the EMS rating up before finishing.

this game is alot harder then past games. i am on the mission where u encounter jack....i have died at least 10 times in this area
