Putz was traded to San Francisco by the Mets and the Yanks traded Johnny Damon for him.
They also traded prospect Austin Jackson for Joel Zumaya.

Tallet and Camp called up to help Jays in stretch run

TORONTO, ON (AP) -- A day after being shelled for a combined four runs in one and two thirds innings, Jason Frasor and Marty McCleary were sent down to the Toronto Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate Las Vegas 51s before game two of the Jays' four game series against the rival Yankees.

In three apperances for the club McCleary had earned himself a 15.75 ERA with only three strikeouts in four innings of work while Frasor had been slumping lately, compiling a 6.75 ERA in the past month. Frasor had gone 3-2 with a 4.02 ERA for the season and was considered for the closers spot when incumbant B.J. Ryan was sent to Las Vegas in late August.

"Obviously Jason and Marty hadn't been pitching well lately and we felt the move had to be made to get two guys that had been performing in Las Vegas." Jays manager Cito Gaston said after the team's 12-3 loss in game one Thursday.

To take Frasor and McCleary's roster spot's the Jays called up former major leaguers Brian Tallet and Shawn Camp who had been toiling in Triple-A after being cut in Spring Training. Tallet had garnered a 5-1 record along with a 1.88 ERA while serving as the primary closer in Las Vegas where he compiled 27 saves along the way. Camp was Tallet's primary setup man and compiled a 1-2 record with a 2.59 ERA in 51 apperances.

In a cup of tea with the Jays last year the Canadian born Camp went 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA while serving as a left handed specialist in the Jays' bullpen while Tallet has compiled a 11-13 record in parts of three seasons with the club.

"I'm excited for the chance and hopefully I can contribute immediately to the club." Tallet said.

The Jays play game two of the Yankees series Friday when Phil Hughes takes the mound against Brian Burres.

Actually the most frustrating game, the Yanks were raking everything and I thought I was gonna get blown out until I got 5 in the bottom of the 7th.
