I am going to try the Uggla trade 1st. I can probably deal with my pitching if it takes to much to get Uggla.

May also try the houston option. I believe Hou has been looking into moving Oswalt.

I would maybe try the Uggla deal but for the pitcher maybe try for a 2nd tier guy rather than another ace. Makes things more realistic IMO than trading for two studs during a season which you rarely if ever see.

Kicking around another trade idea for the Cubs. Coming up on the All-Star break and I need help at 2B. Fontenot/Miles just isn't cutting it for me.

Emmanuel Burriss of the Giants is on the block. The Giants are sucking badly. They are 30 GAMES OUT on July 5th. Burriss is hitting .260 w/ 0HR's and 13 RBI's. What would it take from the Cubs for the Giants to deal him to me?

The Marlins do love them prospects. A "B" rated guy should do the trick. Depends if he's struggling and what the Marlins as a team are doing.

For those looking to Acquire middle infield help...

* Miguel Tejada - His $13MM salary would be too much for some teams if the Astros made him available, but his 32 extra base hits and low strikeout numbers sure look good.

* Julio Lugo - He makes $9MM this year and the same amount next year, so the Red Sox would presumably take on salary in any deal. The 33-year-old is hitting .370 since the beginning of June.

* Cristian Guzman - At $8MM this year and next he's not cheap, but he's consistently hit for a high average in recent years.

* Jack Wilson - He makes $7.25MM this year and his team will have to buy him out for $600k to avoid paying him even more in 2010. However, he's a good defender who puts the ball in play and has doubles power.

* Freddy Sanchez - He'll make over $6MM this year and his 2010 option for $8MM will likely vest. It's a lot of money, but the former batting titlist is a better hitter than most middle infield trade candidates.

* Dan Uggla - The most powerful option available may not be available, after all. The Marlins are in it, so they may keep Uggla and his $3.5MM salary.

* Orlando Cabrera - He's posted a .610 OPS this year and he'll make $4MM- not an enticing combination, but the A's are falling far out of the race.

* Felipe Lopez - At just $3.5MM, his .771 OPS looks good, in spite of the big strikeout total.

* Jamey Carroll - As a free agent-to-be on the Indians, he's a candidate to be moved. The 35-year-old has a .735 OPS to go along with his $2.5MM salary.

* Cesar Izturis - He'll earn $2.4MM this year and $2.6MM in 2010. He's on the DL, recovering from an apendectomy, and his slow recovery is making it less likely that he'll be traded.

* Yuniesky Betancourt - His $2MM salary is deceptive, as he's still guaranteed about $10MM before his deal expires. That figure, plus his .609 OPS mean he'll likely be staying put, but he could be had.

* John McDonald - He's barely played at all for the Jays, but McDonald, who makes $1.9MM, could work for a team looking for a defensive specialist.

* Yunel Escobar - He makes just $425k this year and Buster Olney says the Braves would consider dealing him for a bat.

* Blake DeWitt - The Dodgers have Orlando Hudson playing second base, so DeWitt could be expendable. He's making just $405k, but his Triple A numbers are uninspired.

* Adam Kennedy - The A's are just paying Kennedy the major league minimum and he's produced an OPS approaching .800 for them.

Would any team take Zito's contract?

Realistically, no.

But IMO, if a team hired Rick Peterson as an every day coach, I would imagine they could be more inclined to take a flyer on Zito (although the money would be a huge obstacle).

A team with money to burn...if it's a salary dump, you shouldn't get back any real solid prospects.

If it's a salary swap, find someone who has a big money deal.

hmmm Kosuke Fukudome isn't doing the job in center right now, and Nyjer Morgan is a solid backup. I dont know what to do. I can't trade Fukudome because of his damn contract, but I don't want him playing if he's batting .200.

You're facing a problem the real life Cubs sometimes face

Going to be tough to find a trading partner. Outside of benching him you may not have many options.

The Rangers traded Galarraga to DET for OF Michael Hernandez in 2008.

Trading to get him back along with a lower-end SS, for an All-Star caliber SS (Young), doesn;t seem "fair" to me at all.

AG is not a #2 or #3 starter.

If one is going to acquire an All-Star caliber player, ya gotta give up something you value. IMO, trading away players you don't use or don't want for a player that the team values is a poor/cheap way to go about a franchise. Just sayin'.

Throw in some good players/prospects or don;t make the trade (IMO).

Too many one-sided trade offers in this thread. Kills realism.

The Rangers were 4-18 before this trade. Last I checked, they were 2-3 games below .500 after the trade. I totally understand the issue of realism but there begins a time when a franchise begins to take on it's own sense of realism, if that makes any sense. I created a storyline around them being cellar dwellers, the trade rumors that surrounded Young a while back, and the fact that their pitching was struggling big. Galarraga was 3-1 for me at that point with a sub 3 era. Perhaps in terms of what Galarraga is doing IRL it makes little to no sense, but in the chise, it seemed to make sense.

He's become their ace in the game iirc as well and has yet to lose a game since being traded.

The trades in my NBA chises are always completely thought out for these kind of issues and I'll be the first to admit I'm not as knowledgable when it comes baseball and the roster moves that go along with it.

I'm happy with the trade though as were the people who are actually following my chise and to me, that's what matters most.

Santiago actually went to the bench iirc. They moved Hank Blalock to 3rd and they left their young phenom Andrus at short.

But yeah, if you were here sooner and presented these things to me sooner, I may have reconsidered.

I'm playing a Rays chise just on my own, and here's the deal. Grant Balfour and Aki Iwamura have both been horrid for me and I need one more solid bat, mainly a good contact/doubles hitter to solidify the bottom half of my order.

Here's an offer I have on the table:

Rays receive:
2B Freddy Sanchez
RP Sean Burnett
D Prospect

Pirates receive:
2B Aki Iwamura
RP Grant Balfour
SS Reid Brignac

The main reason I'm going after Sanchez is because his name has been mentioned in trade rumors. Granted, the Pirates may or may not want two big leaguers in return (could be opting for more youth), but Brignac is a solid SS prospect stuck behind Tim Beckham. Aki is great defensively. I basically get the prototype of what I'm looking for - a good contact and doubles hitter. Burnett also could be a decent lefty arm out of my pen.
