Like the Godfather (I only like to watch it all the way through), but for some reason I have no qualms about jumping right into the middle of Godfather Pt2. Goodfellas is another one I don't like to watch on TV, but I will always say yes to watching it if anyone suggests it. Luckily, most people aren't stupid so most people own that movie. The reason for Goodfellas is probably because the beginning is my favorite part.

Personally I like them short and light, and now that I look back on my list they're all comedies to me. Apocalypse Now and Deer Hunter are way too long and serious to "Shawshank" me.

I would say, for a movie to actually Shawshank you, it MUST be on network TV for it to do so. Watching a movie on premium channels is akin to just popping the DVD/BR in and watching it...with onDemand and shit like that, and premium channels running a playlist of films, it kind of cheapens the term "Shawshank'ing"...its not necessarily the idea of "OMGzzz, I rearry rike dis mervie, so I wertch is all der term!"
