Why wait till the game quality goes down ?

In case you missed it you already have publishers like Epic and EA charging you extra for shit that is shipped on the disc.
Keep pirating but theyre going to nickel and dime everyone with unlockables and hold back guns, levels , modes , custumes , tracks , cars etc for downloadable content.

Frankly no reason you shouldn't mod your system , if you want to pirate some retardo game you just wanna try or would likely just rent..go ahead. Industry really doesnt lose much money from that , rentals and used games sales dont do anything for them anyways.
Its the dickheads that pirate games they KNOW they will like , or play often.

I used to pirate games like WWE ,MotoGP Fuzion Frenzy , rarely if ever ,played them , and only because Blockbusters closed around me and Gamefly is too committal. But The titles I know Id be playing regularly I bought. Halo , COD , UFC , GOW ... they make something I want.

I dont like the polarizing of piracy..where every one is criminal scum ...or everyone is a fascist pig and everything should be free. There is a middle ground and those who spend the time and effort to develop a great game deserve the rewards that come with. Especially companies who make smaller niche games and titles that are of great quality.

If I only make one point....its that until the NFL license is revoked EVERYONE should pirate madden and never ever ever consider buying it =-)

40,000 copies retailing at $60 each is 2.4 million dollars in lost sales.

The counter to that argument is that probably 90% or more of the people that pirate a game would never buy it in the first place. The only reason they download it and play it is because they can for the cost of a blank disc.

Just for sake of argument and touching up on KoF's post.

The games I have downloaded and burned thus far are Wet, Re5, and NFS shift.

WET is alright, pretty fun but quite repetitive. RE5, meh, hardly as good as the PS1/DC/GC versions. NFS Shift, fun definitely, but quite short and relatively linear. These games are basically games that allow me to take a break from the games I really enjoy (i.e. NBA2k10, etc, which I pay for) and nothing more.

The way I see it, if I don't feel a game is worth the 60 bucks, I now have the ability to try it out without forking over the cash. I will continue to legally purchase games (i.e. NBA2k10) without even thinking about pirating it despite having the ability to do so.

Back to the point of the thread though, if you pirate a xbox360 game and play it before release, you deserve to be banned for being an idiot. lol.

Exactly. Where I can agree with the people who despise people who pirate games is when people do it for games that they would deem worthy of the retail pirce.

The 3 games I mentioned above, I would never given the time of day had I not had the ability to just download and burn them.

"I called another friend who went in on wednesday to pick up a copy and get his box done too, and he also received a ban for the same reason," says SK. However, SK says the permaban is account only, not console specific. "I made a new XBL account and was back up and running (minus playing f3, of course) within an hour."

I'm OK with DLing TV shows off of torrents, just because they're on TV first, and people aren't losing money on me "pirating" them.

I would say that's what demos, reviews, videos and impressions are for. That's what legitimate people rely on to make a purchasing decision.

Exactly. Caveat emptor. Sure it sucks if you pick up a game that you hate, but thankfully now-a-days you can sell it without taking too much of a loss. Remember the NES days? Those were brutal. I remember blowing all of my money on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and just wanting to destroy that fucking cartridge afterwards.

Anyway, the point is, pirating is terrible. These guys spend years sometimes making this stuff and to just take it without paying under the basis that you don't "know" that it's good is pretty sleazy.

Whether its legal or not ,no matter what an artist , dev , producer say. Its not a lost dollar unless theres a lost sale.Anything beyond that is about frustration over content control. Thats another issue entirely.

Spending 25$ a month on game fly or buying it used doesnt do a thing for Developers. In there eyes its the same as piracy.

Bottom line...If I could download a piece of steak Id do it in a heart beat.
