NBA 2K12

2k8 was not a dunk fest with proper D and playing against ppl who don't exploit. I will say that the post play is more physical now, but I'll take two sim players and a more realistic mid/3point game over what 2k12 has to offer.

With 2 sim players going at it, 2k12 no longer holds the adv, because the only downside that 2k8 has is nullified by sim play.

With that said, it's still not exactly a big challenge to attack the basket in 2k12.

Don't forget the cross court passes on a dime. I remember playing around one time and had my roommate cherry pick when I got the rebound. Shaq threw 4 cross court alley-oop passes in a row right on the money. The passing in 2K8 was just awful. Forgot to add that before.

anyway, won the finals today on MyPlayer... apparently you can't have autosave on when you close out the finals, or it just crashes to desktop. I must have played the lakers like 10 times for the final victory before i read on the Steam forums I had to turn it off.

 

the white house trip was AWESOME. tons of pictures of my guy up there shaking hands with Obama. they did a great job rendering him. this was the 2013 season too, 2k is betting on a re-election, lol...

after winning my title, i decided to bump up the difficulty and start letting the CPU call plays for me. few thoughts:

1) its been super helpful because with the full playvision I get a better idea of how the plays are supposed to work. the CPU does a pretty good job, this isnt some bullshit like "ask madden" where it calls a draw on 3rd and 20 or something. my FG % is way higher.

2) plays also "end", once all the player movement is done, it doesnt tell you what to do anymore, so if I dont get an open look off the picks and screens, I just work for my own shot from beyond the arc.

3) the CPU called plays also tell you what playbook its using. Avery Johnson seems to call a bunch of plays out of the philly playbook. I have been paying tons of attention to it though, getting a feel for who I like best, but I can see why it calls plays for philly alot. he's trying to turn me into Iguodala.

I'm in my 3rd year now, the Nets exercised their team option, so I get one more year there before my free agency payday. if I can repeat, I plan on making a PG with my new playbook knowledge and seeing what I can do with it, but ill probably sign with a big time contender and play out my 4th season before doing that.

I can't even imagine how complicated running an Association is, i have 129 hours played according to Steam and I can barely handle one guy, let alone an entire team, d leagues, and all that other mess.

It's not as overwhelming as you think. As far as D-League, I wouldn't worry too much about it, the chances of finding anything worthwhile in a D-League roster is very small. That'd be the first thing I wouldn't worry about if you think you'll be overwhelmed.

I think I'm going to try the my player aspect of the game now, already won a title in Association with a drafted team. Now running one with LAC since the rosters were updated. Wanna see how deep it gets .....

I asked for a trade to the heat. In my first game, I was shooting awful, something like 4-12 during the game. Got to the FT line in the 4th quarter and heard the chants. WTF.

It's nice to have their Quick Play rosters done, but I'm still waiting until they get everything released before I dig too deep into 2K.

My Player and Team-Up should suit me just fine in the interim.

So since I accidently deleted my original MyPlayer guy I've been trying to start a new one with the new rosters from Operation Sports. I've got them downloaded, and tried starting the My Player mode and the rookies aren't there in the Showcase. So I tried 3 different times and still they never showed up. I tried a 4th time with the 2k share rosters saved under a Roster file instead of a 2k share file and still no dice. What da fuck? Has anybody else tried this yet?

I had generic rookies in the showcase too. I guess it's a casualty of the hex editing and however they got the rookies into the roster.
