I haven't done a dynasty with a MAC team since the ole PS2 days...

I think the last time I did was when I was actually at NIU back in like 2003.

Gonna be fun playing in some snow.

Dekalb in the winter fucking sucks.

Can't decide who to go with really. I might try playing a home game in each stadium and see how I like it better. Illinoi smight be more of a long term challenge as far as building the program in the Big 10/12. NIU is already a really solid MAC team. Might be fun to try and get them a Big 10 invite at some point though. Plus it's cool playing at NIU and seeing the dorm buildings in the background where I used to live.

I somewhat knew that is what it did, the problem with it, is that it doesn't have that much of an effect on a players OVR, which, is the problem. Because, at the end of the day, the game is about numbers...and if a 68 OVR OL goes against a 94 OVR DE, the 94 OVR DE still wins more often than the other guy does, regardless of the AWR or blocking or block shedding, etc.

What is described above is basically what makes a good player...well...good.

You can be slow, can't catch, etc...but if you know and pick up your assignments...you are a good player.

Awareness should be one of, if not the chief attribute of someone's overall...its like learning the playbook, knowing technique, etc. It is actually what makes a player good.

You can take a player from a 50 AWR to an 80 AWR and he jumps 1 MAYBE 2 OVR points...that should not be.

One of the PS2 versions had this right...it was the year I rolled with Arky State (and I don't remember the year...Shermar Bracey was a senior...and was a beast)...OVR was determined a lot by AWR...for a QB, this year, it holds true. You can take a QBs awareness, move it up 5 points, and he is immediately better by a respectable number of points...however, that should be EVERYBODY, at least on O, which is where it seems this attribute is most used.

I just saw this on OS figured you might like it. Some guy who works on the game said this:

"The Awareness of a player does NOT affect his ability to Run Routes, Play Defense, or Block. Each of those have their own ratings that drive how good the player is"

which lead to people asking what awareness actually does, and he replied:

"It's used in our SIM logic some and helps CPU QB's choose who they are going to throw too. I'll double check if there is anything else but that is pretty much it.

So awareness is really only for sim stats and computer QBs choosing where to pass. Other than that it's a useless empty stat.

i saw that too. But he did go on to say that awareness doesnt control those ratings because there are other ratings built in to control that stuff...like route running, zone/man coverage and blocking.

i played OSU at Miami with the pass coverage at 35. Weird results considering the change. Miami completed less than 40% of their passes.
For me going from 75 down to 35 didnt make it any easier to pass the ball. It did provide me with fair DB play, meaning no mirroring....but as a team defense they still played very well

the CPU is what baffles me. with the setting at 40 they were up around 57% or higher. i lower it to 35 and it seemed like they couldnt find anyone open. Miami QB (Jacory Harris a senior now 96 overall, 94power, 90accuracy) is a great QB with excellent WR. I wasnt able to get pressure until they went pass happy in the 4th so i dont know what the problem was

i only play on normal. Slow is just too slow for me. But when i did try on slow it didnt seem any different other than everything moved a bit slower

Nah. I just play on normal. Slow seems too slow to me. But msot of what I've been reading/seeing is it's really personnel preference. Differnt people swear by different speeds.

It's really interesting.. Against Ohio St Nathan Schlaneese of Illinois played better than Crist did for me against Utah even though Utah is the worse defensive team and Crist is the better QB. Utah's QB lit me up, Pryor was "meh" against me, and Nebraska and Alabama's QB's were above average but finished between 50-60% passing wise. You get a pretty good variaty of game play.

Disagree completely. I have all my sounds sliders at default and most times I can't hear the announcers over the crowd.

The crowds are good during exciting times of the game, but most of the time are like the quiet Madden crowds. I've played most of my games at Maryland, and have also played games at Wevt Virginia, Texas, & Florida.

Presentation is "meh". They need (much) more stat overlays and better injury notification for sure. But I don't miss showing the guys in the booth and all that shit. To each their own on some things though.

The presentation is what bugs me the most. The awful injury notification is unacceptable. Most of the time, you don't even know your player is out of the game until several plays later. They can't at least show him limping off the field, or reacting to pain? The only time they do is for the serious injuries it seems.

And the lack of stat overlays & stuff like that makes the presentation feel so dry. Why did the game go backwards in this regard?

Haven't noticced that being a problem.

Maybe it;s just me, but the game feels very unresponsive and hard to control compared to last gen.

I've noticed that problem big time on Heisman. Not so much on other modes though. A lot of this can depend on how high you have certain sliders set like pass coverage and rush defense. If those sliders are set too high then the defense doesn't read and react to the play, they just mirror the play/know it. It sucks bu tnot sure what your sliders are set at so this could be an issue.

Another thing, why do they constantly change the button layouts and menu setups? Every year we have to "relearn" what each button does.

And the roster/stat menus were much simpler the old way.

I'm just very annoyed at this game.

The crowds are good during exciting times of the game, but most of the time are like the quiet Madden crowds. I've played most of my games at Maryland, and have also played games at Wevt Virginia, Texas, & Florida.

I've played games at ND, OSU, NIU, Iowa, Illinois, Utah, among others and never once noticed a crowd issue.

i have to disagree about the crowds going silent. i have never heard any crowd go silent like they do in madden. Even when beating a cupcake team in their stadium in the 4th by 42 point they still make that roar in between plays and during the plays

the comparison to madden is especially bad because in madden the sound is muted in between plays. I mean u hear absolutely nothing.

This tuning set is a step in the right direction but it doesn't actually solve any problems, it just reduces the impact of existing problems a little bit.

Some things are still broken. Ex: The tuner set was supposed to stop teams from stockpiling players at certain positions. It doesn't. In year 6 a lot of teams have 5 or 6+ QBs on their roster. North Texas has 8 QBs.

It's supposed to help solve the issue with teams all regressing as the dynasty goes on. It doesn't. Year 6 there's only 2 teams above A- (compared to 12 on the default roster) and 14 D- teams (compared to 0 on the default roster).

It's better than things were before but still far off from what it should be.

if ever team that was supposed to play competitively did so, i would be very happy. Just played OSU at Nebraska in week 4. I won on a FG as time ran out. It was an excellent, well played game.

i used the sliders i posted on the previous page with both sides using 35 for pass cover. CPU only had 6 in-completions, but after miami went 40% i will take it. It was honest so i cant complain.

one thing i wanted to mention were the penalties. 3 for me and 4 for them. I had been using whats posted below with holding at 55. It always felt like the CPU was getting called for holding at the worst possible time. It felt unfair to me so i lowered holding to 50 and was surprised to still see 3 called total for the game. got some false start, clipping and facemask too.
