Basically, what I am doing to the rosters is, giving players who need upgrades, upgrades.
I'm going through Phil Steele's magazine and the CFN 2010 previews of each team in a smaller conference and upgrading players that need it plus adding players.
Examples to get an idea of what I am doing...
First Team All-Conference types are getting rated from the mid-80's to high-70's (depending on the team), second team All Conference types getting re-rated from the high 70's to the low 70's etc.
I'm doing NO DOWNGRADING. If the game has a guy rated high who Phil and CFN have rated as an HM teamer and he is rated a 78, so be it...this is really just to upgrade the talent that should be upgraded...I also think this helps out over the course of dynasty as these teams are better (albeit very slightly).
Also doing some roster adjustment based on scheme and preview depth charts (never truly accurate, but whatever) - Example - Kent State's defense...overhauled their DL and LB and moved guys around...Monte Simmons was a 60-something DE, but moved him to OLB as they play a 3-4 and is now rated in the mid-70s as a second team All-Conference type.
So...lets say Almondo Sewell of Akron...was a 60-something DE...because Akron is moving to a 43, moved him to DT and upgraded him to a 78 (he, and two other players are Akron's best players, but because Akron is the worst team, their best isn't quite as good as say...Temple's best.
Also, added some players...examples...some guys who got medical redshirts like Jake Coffman of NIU and Tyrone Pronty of BGSU or major transfers like Kenny Ashley of Ohio.
I'm doing this with the MAC, Sun Belt, and WAC (where the worst teams are and the conferences that get the least love from the makers)...otherwise, most of the stuff is taken care of by the roster makers.
Once I do that, I can start my dynasty.
I should be done today with everything. It isn't as hard as I thought going in. Doing complete overhauls of Miami, Western Kentucky, and Akron (the three teams I'll dynasty with this year at some point) took up most of my time, but now...I'm cruising.
