NCAA Dynasty Update Thread

Landed my first recruit at Eastern Washington. Jayson Redd, #1 QB in the nation committed to me, after wanted to stay in state (from Spanaway, WA).

He looks very good; A+ awareness, A arm strength, A+ Accuracy, 4.96 - 40. He also has "average" Discipline, so I won't really have to worry about him getting in trouble. Looks like I already have a QB battle for next year, as my Freshman this year is a 84ovr.

How the hell did Eastern Washington land the #1 QB recruit in the country in your first year?

How the hell did Eastern Washington land the #1 QB recruit in the country in your first year?

I thought it was odd, too. He was from my home state and he wanted to stay close to home, which gave me an advantage. His top 3 schools before he committed were Nevada, EWU, and Wazzu. Last-gen recruiting is a lot different, where you have to divide 100 hours between at-most 15 recruits. I recruited him harder than the other schools using 20-40 hours a week on him.

My other commits are a 4 star FS (from WA), a 3 star G (from WA), and a 2 star MLB. But, that's all I could get for in-season recruiting.

Likely not playing for the Big 12 Championship game because I lost to Okie State after being on their 1 and failing to score to win the game. Quite embarrassing.

I rebounded the next week and beat Oklahoma 37-33 thanks to my OLB intercepting their 2 point conversion attempt and taking it all the way, I was up 35-33 because their kicker shanked an extra point. I have one game left against Hawaii and should finish 10-2 for the regular season. I've also got the #3 recruiting class at the moment despite not having signed on 5 star.

Here's the vid of my 2 point interception return:

We played a relatively easy schedule with a down year in conference, I don't think we were really as good as the record said we were through the first 13 games. In the final game, we weren't quite as outclassed as the Tigers were irl on Monday night, but it was a pretty similar situation. All we could muster on our first drive was a long field goal. Then Mr. Heisman got behind my secondary on a streak route out of the backfield. That was only the beginning for the Rambling Wreck. Soon after one of their receivers, ironically named Tiger Johnson, started styling on my entire team. First he out jumped our best cover corner in the back of the end zone on some Megatron shit for a 50-yard score (pictured above), then after we kick another FG to cut it to 14-6, he returns the kickoff 100 yards to knock us back down the hill.

It became 28-6 by the end of the first half, and despite our best efforts at a 4th-quarter comeback, the closest we got was within 8-points and a desperate onside kick attempt in the final 30 seconds. All of the pieces were in place for this team, but I feel we were just a year ahead of schedule with all of the new faces in the starting lineup. Hope the juniors are willing to come back for one more go.

PASSING STATS

Cooper's career ended on a sour note.

#|NAME|CL|RTG|COMP|ATT|YDS|TD|INT|CMP%|LONG|SACK
17|Keith Craft|JR(RS)|164.1| 167 | 270 | 2597 | 20 |4|61| 88 |32
3|Justin Cooper|SR(RS)|98.9|11|24|136|1|1|45|42|6
2|Tony Crowder|FR(RS)| 202.4 |6|8|82|1|0| 75 |35|0

It was a very disappointing senior year for Justin Cooper. Thanks to a broken wrist in the first game, the same guy who won a national title as a redshirt freshman ended up watching most of his final season from the sidelines. After exiting the Notre Dame game late in the second half, he would only complete one more pass all season. It is worth noting that his one completion set up the game winning field goal v. Arkansas. We were driving in the closing seconds, and Craft took a hard hit while going out of bounds and was unable to return for the rest of the game. With no timeouts and the threat of overtime approaching, Cooper ran out there and without blinking delivered a strike to Chris Munoz, who picked up the first down and then some before getting out of bounds to set up the winning kick.

For all his talent, Coop could just never put it all together and have a great season. His best year was probably his first year, when he had an elite WR to throw to in Vince Tillman, and from there he leveled off. He remained mistake prone and inconsistent, often failing in the biggest moments. Coaches and fans were beginning to compare him to former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo behind his back.

Craft, meanwhile, exceeded all expectations we had for him. His TD-INT ratio jumps out first, but what impressed me the most was his running ability. He was giving up 10 speed points to Cooper but ran the option much more consistently thanks to his tough running style and his decisiveness. The way he operated our offense this year reminded me a lot of Andrew Dalton at TCU. He'll be back next year and we have high hopes for him. Maybe even first team All-SEC and some fringe Heisman love.

***EDIT***

Before I could even proofread this post and hit submit, this fucker decides he's going to go to the draft. THE FUCK?!?! I tried 30 minutes of convincing and he still opted to go. 13 career starts and he thinks he's ready for the big time, cocky bastard. Now I know how Pete Carroll felt. It's pretty clearly Crowder's job now, as he will be the only quarterback on the roster as soon as I click 'Advance'. He was the #1 overall QB recruit two years ago and he will have three seasons of eligibility remaining. I'm pissed Craft bailed on me but still excited to get the Tony Crowder era under way. Despite being black, he is even slower than the other two guys so the focus in recruiting will be to find a backup with solid wheels.

RUSHING STATS

#|NAME|CL|ATT|YDS|AVG|TD|LONG|FUM
42|Brian Gaston|SR(RS)| 228 | 1356 |5.9| 13 |58|2
5|Brandon Harris|JR(RS)|87|744| 8.5 |7| 73 | 4
32|Chuck Gray|SR|11|119|8.4|2|67|0
11|Jason Bell|SR|14|78|5.5|0|30|0

You can't find 'em much better than Brian Gaston. He topped out at 98 overall, with a nifty 99 BTK rating. For his career he'll finish with 3156 yards and 26 touchdowns on 560 carries. He gained 1000 career yards after the first hit alone.

Harris was just as valuable in his role as our big play back, and after losing him to a season ending injury in the Arkansas game our offense was not the same. It's no coincidence that without Harris, Gaston had his worst game all season. Georgia Tech stuffed the middle, not respecting our ability to get to the edge.

Next year, Harris will presumably return (I haven't advanced yet, so his decision whether to bolt to the NFL is still pending) and the "power back" duties will fall to Bell and an intriguing young player named Pete Mitchell, who was a much hyped recruit a couple of years ago and checks out at 6'6 220.

***EDIT***
Harris also thought about leaving, but he is returning after 30 minutes of 'discussions' on the matter. :shifty:

RECEIVING STATS

Senior wide receiver Dane Dixon, selling the outside release before slanting underneath for a wide open touchdown -- one of his team-high eight touchdown grabs this year.

#|NAME|POS|CL|REC|YDS|AVG|TD|LONG
15|Chris Munoz|WR|SO(RS)| 40 | 725 |18.1|3|61
85|Dane Dixon|WR|SR|37|662|17.8| 8 | 88

13|Brian Russell|WR|JR|27|445|16.4|3|71
4|Justin Greene|WR|JR|14|245|17.4|2|72
8|Lionel Carter|WR|FR(RS)|7|132| 18.8 |0|49

Productive group overall, with no real star. Each guy contributed something different. Dixon was a major red zone target thanks to his 99 CTH rating. Munoz was a breakout player who came out of nowhere to earn the slot job over Greene in fall camp. We used him for a lot of the gadget things on the perimeter, getting him the ball in space on option pitches, screens, end arounds, etc. He's a good route runner so he has a chance to be a real star for us if he can develop more of an all around game.

Russell is another possession guy who is similar to Dixon, but his smaller frame makes it harder to target him in the RZ. He'll continue to work underneath next year and between him, Munoz, and the 6'4 pair of Justin Greene and Lionel Carter we should have a pretty stacked group for Craft to throw to next season.

Last season the majority of this group were departing seniors. This time the majority of them are juniors, but with many of them being highly coveted by pro scouts, it's hard to say for sure how many of them will be back. Jones is most definitely gone I'd say, but I am hoping for Kane and Hunter to give it one more year. If Hunter leaves the secondary could be really thin next season. We should remain solid everywhere else as long as we don't get nailed by attrition unexpectedly.

***EDIT***

Kane and Jones are coming back, but Hunter is not. Let him go since he's a 97 OVR. I am also losing my 90 OVR punter to the draft ... lulz.

Here are some humorous coaching carousel outcomes:

- Gus Malzahn, who was the HC of Arkansas, was fired.

- Buffalo fired their coach and has hired Dana Holgorsen as the replacement.

- Paul Petrino was fired as the head coach of Rutgers and accepted the same position with ULM.

- Eric Bieniemy got the head gig at his alma mater, Colorado. Larry Fedora was there and got the ax.

- Dan Mullen is still at Mississippi State, 16 years later.

- Brian Kelly is the new head coach at UConn after last serving as the Middle Tennessee State OC.

- Somehow Mike Gundy has been re-hired at Oklahoma State, after serving as an offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State ... weird, not sure wtf happened with that.

- Jimbo Fisher was the OC at Maryland until retiring this season. Something about the Terps and crappy former LSU OCs.

- Mark Richt's contract as OC was not renewed by Duke. LULZ. He landed on his feet as the new Texas OC though.

- Al Golden is the new DC at New Mexico.

- Kirk Ferentz retired. He had been serving as the Alabama DC.

For this season I went ahead and used Stanford's playbook. It has a nice mix of everything and lets me run a much more balanced offense. I knew that it would be difficult to run it really well because the receiver position was very weak coming into the season and the best they had to offer was two incoming freshmen that I got during off-season recruiting. Despite that I knew I would have a strong running game with Hassin returning and some good depth at the HB position.

Sadly the season didn't go as well as I had really hoped. With an easier schedule this season I was hoping to improve by at least two wins over last season's record (7-6). The biggest issue was poor offensive line play. Transitioning from a run heavy offense to a more balanced attack I expected to not have the best line in place to protect the QB. The start of the season proved that this line was not used to protecting the QB. As the season went on I was happy to see that they improved and began to give Steelman more time in the pocket.

PASSING

Different offense. Same Steelman.
No.|Class|Name|Rating|Comp|Att|Yards|TD|INT|Comp %|Sack
8|SR|Trent Steelman|133.0|128|255|2268|19|21|50|41
He went through a very brutal first half of the season. He was getting drilled just about every time he dropped back to pass and if it wasn't for his great mobility he would have likely been sacked much more. In the second half of the season as the pass blocking improved so did he. He was able to stay in the pocket and make great passes and occasionally take off and burn the opposing defense. He ended up breaking the school record for yards and TDs in a season.

RUSHING

Jared Hassin strolling into the end zone.
No.|Class|Name|Att|Yards|Avg|TD|Fumbles

8|SR|Trent Steelman|96|353|3.6|6|5
23|SR|Malcolm Brown|89|402|4.5|3|0
Hassin really carried the team for most of the year. When the line was failing at pass protection was not there in he was working to keep the team in the game. Even when the the passing game began to take stride he was still the guy relied on for consistent production on the ground. He was just a solid back throughout the year and broke the school record for rushing yards in a season. I probably should have used Brown more often to try and keep Hassin fresh and just offer up a change of pace in the game.

The receiving this season was highlighted by 2 freshman, one of them being a TE. Madison and Ratliff are not particularly fast but both are big targets (6'5 and 6'4) and have solid catching and route running abilities. Madison and Ratliff are going to both be some really great players down the line for Army if they keep this up. McFarlin and Allen surprised me with how useful they actually turned out to be for me this season.

Previous Years
2011: http://www.virtualsportsdaily.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1947930&postcount=804

Finished the season 7-6 losing to BYU 38-20 in the Poinsettia Bowl. Things were looking good as I picked BYU off on the first drive, but my starting QB, who was back from injury, bruised his shoulder and got knocked out for the game. My backup QB couldn't really lead the offense, as he is slower than Peyton Manning and has the arm of a 7th grade girl.

Florida beat USC in the National Championship, and Colt McCoy won the Heisman over Pat White and Dan LeFevour. Surprisingly, my lineman who got knocked out for the year in the fourth game, won 1st Team All-Sun Belt with 7 pancakes and 1 sack allowed. A redshirt won all-conference, I'll take it :dunno:

Big East finished with the hardest average Strength of Schedule (26th) and Sun Belt was last (99th). Miami had the toughest schedule of 95-47, but they finished 5-7. Overall, Big-12 was the conference of the year.

Troy won the Sun-Belt at 9-4 and I came in 5th, losing to WKU, Northern Ariz, and Mont St.

I was outscored 108-7 between Nebraska and Iowa, something my team needs to improve on if we want to get quality wins.

Just beat the hell out of Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl 63-14. We scored 42 in the first half and my offense worked to perfection. My senior RB actually had an 86 yard TD run on the final play of the game, great way to end a mediocre career. He carried the ball 5 times for 155 yards and 3 tds. He was never this good in any other game.

As for the season I finished 11-2, definitely my best year yet and we finished #8 in the polls which is excellent. The U won the title and steamrolled all of their opponents. Sadly had my 97 overall QB not broken his collarbone I think we could've finished top 5 and won the Big 12.

Some notable players for me:

QB Reggie Bryan aka SMU Saracen- 2391 yds passing 21 passing tds 4 ints 636 rushing yds 9 rushing tds
RB Nate Murphy- 737 yds 7 tds 5.4 avg
TE Andre Ramsey- 54 rec 935 yds 15 TDs

The tight end is a monster in the red zone. He's tall and big as hell and rarely drops a pass. SMU Saracen filled in well and led the team to its best finish yet. He only had one game where he shit the bed and we got lost to Okie St.

My team should improve next year at every position but QB and CB. I'll be young in both spots. It'll be tough to top this season but I've got a lot of good young players on offense and I think in 2 seasons I'll be a national championship contender. I had the 10th best recruiting class too which is really nice.

Finished with the 38th recruiting class overall. Ended up with a 5star QB (re-ranked to #3 overall QB), 4 star CB, and a 4 star FS.

But signed only 1 offensive lineman :alone:

Taking over as UNT's offensive coordinator, I knew I had a tough task ahead of me. The strengths of the offense were in HB Lance Dunbar. Our QB, Derek Thompson, is solid and so are the top 2 wideouts. It was easy to decide to use Dunbar to set up the pass. I took the TCU playbook and used it to great effect in 2011.

UNT improved from a terrible 3-9 campaign to go 7-6, with a bowl victory and two HUGE wins over top-flight FBS programs in Alabama and Utah. It was a rough start to the season, losing two close games to teams who ended up doing very well, but the upset against Alabama in Tuscaloosa was a big boost to the team. Dunbar went down for three weeks towards the end of the season, really making our offense difficult to run. After the blowout loss to Troy, we sat at 4-6 on the outside looking in. However, our team stepped up and we won our final three games of the season (including the bowl).

----------------------------------------------------

PASSING

OlwWS.jpg

Derek Thompson, boom or bust.
Class|Name|Rating|Comp|Att|Yards|YPG|YPC|TD|INT|Comp %|Sack
RS SO|Derek Thompson|145.1|213|401|3748|288.3|17.5|26|16|53|50
SO|Brent Osborn|56.2|2|7|23|5.7|11.5|0|0|28|1
Derek Thompson was much better than expected, but he benefitted heavily from the punishing run-style of Lance Dunbar. Numerous times Dunbar would carry the ball 3-4 times in a row, which set up Thompson nicely on play-action over the top.

However, Thompson made some outstanding plays throughout the season, including three game-winning drives in the final two minutes. He still turns the ball over far too much, but we'll be depending on him in 2012 until we can find a consistent running threat.

----------------------------------------------------

RUSHING

Lance Dunbar: All man, all machine. (What?)
Class|Name|Att|Yards|Avg|YPG|TD|Fumbles
SR|Lance Dunbar|249|1069|4.2|97.1|6|1
SR|James Hamilton|139|437|3.1|33.6|3|2
SO|Brandin Byrd|26|113|4.3|16.1|0|0
Dunbar was our focal point heading into 2011 and we may have focused on him a little too much. Lance opened the season with three 100+ yard rushing games in our first 4 contests, but he probably took too many carries to get there. Dunbar missed 2 full games as well as a significant amount in 3 others during the season. The two games he missed were also our biggest losses of the season.

James Hamilton was a decent backup, but he had neither the strength nor the speed of Dunbar. His limited physicality decreased our offensive effectiveness, but he filled in admirably in Dunbar's absence.

Brandin Byrd looks to be the starter next season and there's a lot of hope that he can be better than Hamilton was. In spurts, he was very effective running off-tackle.

Tyler Stradford had a monster year running deep.
Class|Pos|Name|Rec|Yards|YPC|YPG|TD|Long|Drops
RS JR|WR|Tyler Stradford|42|1333|31.7|102.5|15|80|5

JR|WR|Ivan Delgado|28|500|17.8|41.6|3|57|5
Our wideouts benefitted from a system in which we asked them to do very simple things. Most of the time - block. The rest of the time - run deep. Stradford was a huge deep threat for us and it showed. He managed to go over 1300 yards receiving on less than 50 receptions. Stradford and Outlaw were #1 and #2 in the nation in yards per catch.

Stradford and Delgado will hopefully return, giving us two legitimate outside threats to hopefully take the pressure off the running game.

Finally got my first 5 star prospects interested in me. One is the #1 QB in the nation who is from Texas and the other is an athlete. The QB is a scrambler and would fit well into my offense.

However, my FR (RS) QB has done great through 3 games with 9 tds and only pick. He also led the squad to a 38-23 victory over #9 TCU. I'd probably do a 2 QB system if I land the 5 star.

Currently 7-0, ranked #1 in the nation in my Ohio State dynasty (the most recent one I posted about in 2015) and just beat Purdue 65-31. It was actually pretty close (30-24 in the 3rd before I was able to finally blow it open).

I got my stud change of pace back/return guy Ray Carter back after he missed the past 4 weeks with an injury. He has 97spd/94agi/99acc/92elu/94jkm so he's pretty damn good.

His first game back he puts up 535 all-purpose yards on Purdue, with:
8 carries 47 yards 1 TD
3 receptions 7 yards
5 KR 292 yards 2 TD (100 and 99 yards)
8 PR 189 yards 1 TD (74 yards)

Beast.

I finished up recruiting, and ended up landing the perfect running QB to rotate in as a change of pace to my pocket passer: JR Smith, #7 QB prospect, 6'0, 205, 85 spd, 79 AGI, 81 ACC. Also has 90 and 79 THA.

:jizz:

I was wrong on these ratings since I went off memory. He actually has 87 AGI and 85 ACC. Only 85 THP, but still ...
