NCAA Dynasty Update Thread

I thought of playing as Indiana because of the Big Ten, but right now, I am thinking of going to Stanford.

Decide to put my Grambling dynasty on hold since they won't put me in the BCS or move me to a different conference.

Started up a RMU (created team, not in the game originally) dynasty and it's been a fun challenge so far. I'm playing on All-American so I don't get destroyed by 80 every game.

Best Players:
Gary Kane, Sr. (RS), QB - 72 ovr
Matt Parrish, Jr., HB - 72 ovr (runs over people like no one's business)
Mike Whitaker, So., WR - 76 ovr (92 spd)
Titus Brown, Fr., WR - 70 ovr

My offense has some solid young talent on it, but my defense is absolute trash minus Kelly so it's tough to stop teams. Kane has decent mobility as well so I make things happen with his feet.

Schedule:
at Arizona State - L, 31-51

I think I threw six picks with Kane this game...just an awful all around performance. Picked it up in the second half with my running game and Parrish ended up with over 200 yards on 30 carries. I lost Whitaker with an injury that game but he was back for the next week.​

at Wisconsin - L, 30-42

Almost pulled off a nice comeback here. Went down 21-0 in the first quarter, then started battling back with some bombs to Whitaker and Parrish's legs. I got it to 35-30 but failed on the onsides kick. Wisconsin pulled a typical Wisconsin then and ran up the score on a cheap passing TD with :30 left. :shifty:​

vs. Toledo - W, 37-34

Led 31-13 at half after two picks off of Bruce Gradkowski (lol) that turned into touchdowns. Toledo came back with some bombs (my safeties are slow as shit) and eventually tied it at 34-34 with 2 minutes left, but then I rode Parrish's legs down the field and set up the GW FG from about 30 yards out with no time left.​

vs. Western Michigan - L, 17-41

Very disappointing. I had a 17-7 halftime lead and then WMU scored 34 unanswered in the second half. Kane was horrendous after the first quarter, starting 9-15 and ending 10-30 passing. Did get two picks with my corner opposite of Kelly though.​

I go on the road to face cheesy Omar Jacobs and Bowling Green next. :gulp: e: Jacobs is out 8 weeks with a broken jaw...I have a chance!

Other stuff:
- Leon Washington is leading the Heisman race right now, with D.J. Shockley behind him.
- USC fell to Arkansas 42-10, lol.
- Tennessee is #1, while Iowa moved to #2 after curbstomping Ohio State, 42-14.

So I go back today to select Stanford as my new job, and now the game isn't giving me that option anymore. So now I have to go rethink this.

I have made my decision on where I will be next season. I have selcted to....

 

Become the Head Coach at Missouri

A couple reasons for this. One, not many people have picked to go the head coaching route in these things so I wanted to change it up. Missouri had a horrible 3-9 record last year, and are a 3 star school, the same as FIU. To me that is good for a cross over instead of going from a small time school to a massive power house. OU was after me, but they have a 99 off, and that would have been boring, and NC State was a 5 star power house as well, so more boring stuff.

FIU was fun, but if I were a real coach, and this offer came, (among others) it would be hard. You see a lot of OC go coach, and if they fail, go back to OC again, so not a big deal.

With being the head coach I have to play on both sides of the ball plus do the recruiting. I think the Big 12 will be a nice challenge and I look forward to this going forward. I am advancing through to signing day as they have basically done all the recruiting for the year, and I'm not fucking it up now. I'll start with my own class.

I have Texas' number in this game. This time I was #7 and undefeated at 6-0 and they were #4 and also 6-0. Each time I've played them they've been undefeated and I beat them every time. This game was no exception and I beat them 28-18. I was up 28-0 at half time but stalled. Nice to beat them in a situation where I will jump them in the rankings. Actually took their spot at #4.

We're also competing over a 5 star QB recruit, so hopefully he comes to me rather than playing for Texas and having me beat him every year. He committed to Texas after the game lol. I'll enjoy beating him every year.

*Week 3 vs Illinois was a FCS East game, so I switched it to rival game vs Illinois.

Missouri 33 - Toledo 20

Was a good start to the season as I took a punt return all the way back to open the scoring 10 seconds in. I would then add a safety to go up 9-0. Missouri has an Ace back set, as well as pistol and shotgun so it is a lot like FIU just with a little more of a run attack. I was fairly balanced with the attack, throwing 25 times and running 33.

They actually beat me in yards, going for 285-265, so the sliders worked really well in this, and when I play better opponents I should have a really tough time. One thing I notice with this team is the CB's and secondary get tired really quickly if a team runs the no huddle which these guys were doing all game. Will have to address that situation some how.

The other major thing is the WR are terrible, and for a pass heavy team, this is going to be hard. I got 9 catches on 25 throws which ws terrible, and a lot of drops, but also a lot of players slipping on the field. Should be an interesting season, as I know now this will come back to haunt me.

Illinois 10 - Missouri 14

They are counting this one as an upset and I might as well. I was leading 7-3 going into the half, but they went ahead with a TD in the third. The story here is my kicker missed two field goals way left which could have easily put this out of reach, but I put together a solid drive for the game winning TD. I stopped them on their last drive, basically forcing them to a 4th and 22 for the first and I get the hit for the fumble and recover.

I learned today my defence is really weak on the run game, as they could not stop anything from going through them like swiss cheese. Another balanced attack for me of 26 runs for 125 yrds, and 16/27 throws for 231 yrds.

Big win for me to get to 2-0 on the season. Got one more warm up game against Indiana, and then we hit the big test in Texas.

With the loss of stud HB Lance Dunbar, I knew it was going to be tough sledding in 2012. I had no idea it would be as tough as it was in the beginning.

Much like last season, we started off terribly. By Week 7, we had managed only one win. Unlike last season, the majority of 2012's losses were magnificent blowouts. Our defense never came to play in the first half of the season. Our only victory (@ KSU) was a shootout decided in the final minute.

We struggled to run the ball early. Because the defense couldn't make a stop, we'd fall behind incredibly quickly and be forced into a no-huddle passing offense. This led to QB Derek Thompson topping 500 yards passing three times in the first 5 games.

However, our luck changed on a Friday the 13th in November, when we faced ULL. Everything clicked in a 43-7 blowout of the Ragin' Cajuns and it was all downhill from there.

We rattled SEVEN CONSECUTIVE WINS en route to a second-place finish in the Sun Belt. In that stretch, Derek Thompson didn't even surpass 300 yards passing until the final three games of the season. In that same period, HB Brandin Byrd topped the 100-yard rushing mark five times.

What looked to be a doomed season eventually turned out to be an improvement over 2011's magical run.

In his second year in my spread attack, Derek Thompson led the nation in passing yardage. Almost all facets of his game improved a great deal except for his turnover ratio, which decreased slightly.

Also, his sacks taken total shows just how improved our offensive line play was. Thompson was brought down two less times in 108 extra opportunities, which is fantastic considering the sack rate last season was abysmal.

Andrew McNulty looked good in his opportunities and has set himself up nicely as the QB of the future when Thompson departs.

RUSHING

Brandin Byrd performed better than expected in his first year as a starter.

After losing star tailback Lance Dunbar to graduation, HB Brandin Byrd had to step up into a starting role. Thankfully, he blew away all expectations. In nearly every statistical category, Byrd trumped Dunbar's 2011 campaign - except in one vital area: health.

In 2012, Byrd missed all or part of the first five games of the season. This forced Antoinne Jimmerson, a power back better suited to short-yardage situations, into a starting role. Jimmerson was solid, but lacked the big play capability of Byrd.

Freshman Rasheed Barnes was forced into playing early due to Byrd's injury and performed well. He'll be a great back down the line.

Tyler Stradford proved his Junior campaign was no fluke.

In my second year, our air attack absolutely flourished. With veterans littering the field, going 4 or 5-wide was almost unfair to other teams.

Tyler Stradford again led the team from the outside. However, a big surprise was the emergence of speedy wideout Brelan Chancellor. He's the only receiver with any significant playing time in 2012 returning next year and hopefully he can deliver on a promising start.

Our TEs and HBs were equally reliable. Andrew Power was able to stretch defense as a Flex TE and Daniel Prior was a consistent threat in short-yardage situations. HB Antoinne Jimmerson flashed sticky hands out of the backfield and may be looked upon more next season if no other wideouts can prove themselves.

At the end of the season, I knew I would have a lot of offers rolling in. I knew I wasn't ready for a primetime gig as the OC at a successful BCS AQ program, but I thought I had the ability to jump up to a floundering BCS school to see what I could do.

Another reason that made me want to take the leap was the likelihood that my quarterback, Derek Thompson, would try and make a jump to the NFL after a record-breaking season. I didn't think he was ready, but I had a feeling.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find out if he was staying or not before making my decision as the offers would be off the table before he would inform me of his decision, so I decided to take an offer to be the Offensive Coordinator for the...

2013 LOUISVILLE CARDINALS​

Head Coach Charlie Strong asked me to come aboard after a rough 5-7 season in which the Cardinals lost six of their final 8 games.

I'll be taking my spread running attack with me in the hopes that a supreme talent like QB Teddy Bridgewater can take my offense to the next level in 2013. Hopefully it can get him some serious NFL attention in the process.

It's only a one-year contract - an intense trial run. Who knows what will happen after this? A failure could mean being bumped down to the lower ranks, while success could mean either a longer contract in Louisville or a catapult into the upper echelon of CFB programs.

Pumped for the Louisville era. Should be a nice stepping stone to bigger and better things.

I do kind of find it funny that everyone is an OC. No defence guys here? Although they don't get the glory as the OC would. Only thing that sucks being a head coach is the game takes so long to get through compared to one side of the ball. And in some cases it is fun, other cases, you just want to get going. Trying to figure out a way to do the supersim on it, like sim offence and defence in one quarter each, and then play out the second half or something.

Two developments of note:

- My LSU team entered the new season #1, despite starting a brand new QB. After a 4-0 start we just got pummeled in the Swamp, 31-3. Rude awakening for the young signal caller.

- Since that dynasty is getting a little stale I'm starting up a coaching career as a DC. I am more of a defensive guy anyway so I am going to try my hand at it. The chronicles of coach Thaddeus Citrano (from a random name generator) are coming soon. For starters, I accepted the defensive coordinator gig with the University of Wyoming. Happy to be a Cowboy. I plan on staying here for the next two to three seasons at the least.

I'm a defense guy. It felt weird taking a HC job after being a DC for many years haha. I hadn't played on offense in a few months, so I was super rusty hahaha. But I play FS in real life, so defense is always the way to go for me.

I tried starting a DC one at Akron but got murdered at OSU with my sliders like 90-0 and I found it total bullshit. The offense had the ball for 45 seconds before they punted. I played two games and got sick of it and started an OC.

I played a game last night v. Arizona St. on Heisman default. My team punted 14 times so I was always on the field. Gave up 850 yards of total offense and we lost 71-21.

Yeah, I think I might have to modify some settings, lol.

Make or break time for my team. We're #4 at 8-0 and 3 of our 4 remaining games are against top 25 teams with my last game being against an undefeated Boise State. Even if we win out, if there are two undefeated teams ahead of me I doubt I make the NC. I should mention we are playing well above our ability and at this point I'm expecting to fall apart in one of these games.

RMU is now 4-3 thanks to three big wins in a row.

RMU 35, Bowling Green 24
- Bowling Green was without Omar Jacobs and his back-up sucked + got knocked out for a quarter by one of my players. I was up 21-0 at halftime and was cruising, but then a series of crazy events happened. At the end of the first half, their third QB (a back-up WR) ran a draw and broke free into the secondary. I stripped the ball at the 20-yard line but one of their receivers picked it up on the run and ran into the end zone with no time remaining to make it 21-7. Then on the second half opening kickoff, their KR ran it back to make it 21-14 within the last two plays. The rest of the quarter was pretty quiet, but then they kicked a field goal to make it 21-17 with :04 left in the third. I then fumbled the ensuing kickoff and they ran back the fumble for a touchdown and I went down for the first time in the game. (They had literally like 90 yards of total offense at this point.) However, I got past all that and put two touchdowns on the board in the fourth to seal it.

RMU 58, Portland State 7
- FCS teams suck even against my team. I ran back two punts and had three touchdowns with my stud tailback. My #2 receiver tore a muscle in his shoulder though and will miss probably the rest of the season.

RMU 42, Army 20
- Very balanced attack with my #1 recruiting target in attendance led me to a victory. I had about 275 and 4 TDs with my QB and 144 yards and two scores with my stud tailback. It was close at the end of the first half (21-20 RMU) but I scored on the opening drive of the third quarter and then picked off a pass three plays later and scored again to kill their spirits.

5-star QB Aaron Morales will try to be the savior of the program as he enrolls next season. :yep:
