[NFC CHAMPIONSHIP] New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers

The eighth playoff game between the Giants and 49ers will tie an NFL record. The Niners lead the postseason series, 4-3. The Giants and Bears and the Cowboys and the Rams have also squared off eight times in the postseason.

QB Eli Manning has a 121.8 passer rating in the Giants’ two postseason games. Manning’s fourth-quarter rating is 144.6.

With 115 and 165 receiving yards in the Giants’ victories over Atlanta and Green Bay, WR Hakeem Nicks became the first Giant with two career 100-yard receiving games in the postseason.
 
I've considered Eli a borderline top 10 QB for the past 4 years.. If he gets a ring this year or at least features in the superbowl I will have to do the dreaded thing and rank him higher than Rivers, possibly #5.

The 1990 NFC Championship Game was the hardest hitting game I've seen, along with the 1984 Bears-Raiders game and the 1978 Oilers-Steelers regular season finale. I also think that 1990 NFC Championship Game gets overlooked in the "greatest games" discussion.

Leonard Marshall was interviewed on the Stern show soon after that game. He said when he put the hit on Montana, Joe Cool let out a long moan. Damn.

I was on the edge of my seat that whole game.

I've been to hundreds of Niners, Raiders, and Sharks games. My dad has had season tickets at some point for all of these teams over the last 20 years.

I think that was the loudest game I've ever been to.

Buddy of mine at work bought a ticket today for the game and paid $420 for nosebleeds.

I would never pay that much money, but I do know that the memory of the 49ers victory over the Giants will be a game that I remember forever because of the atmosphere.

That said, I didn't pay for the ticket lol.

I was a Niner fan growing up until the age of about 10. When Oakland came to Oakland my dad got season tickets there too so we started going to games and I just had fun at the Raider games, probably because everyone was swearing around me and acting like an asshole. I probably thought it was cool at the time, I was a little dickhead.

Add to the facts that the tickets were probably way cheaper than Niners tickets at the time and the awful commute and parking situation at Candlestick probably influenced the decision as well for my dad and I.

I've never hated the 49ers like most Raider fans. I root for them against other teams. All my friends are 49ers fans. I'm not going to be a bitter prick.

It's actually quite nice because I cheer for them and get a little excited if they win but nothing crazy and if they lose I don't really care. I can say that I am able to judge them subjectively because I watch every game but no bias towards them.

I picked them to beat NO last week and I predict them to lose to NYG this week. Only because the Giants have 3 Aldon Smiths instead of just 1.
