Swap a few FG's around and the defense is the reason any of the 4 QB's today would've won. So don't see how it matters, but while on the topic...Eli was the only QB to have 0 turnovers today and he threw 60 passes against the toughest defense that played.

Smith didn't have the turnovers, Williams did.

I'd hesitate to call Eli Manning superb in that game. He played solid against the 49ers defense but superb? C'mon. Part of the reason he got his ass kicked was the fact that the Giants had him drop back over 60 times. The Giants defense and Kyle Williams are the reason that team won this game.

On the road, in the rain, against the best D in the league:

32-58, 316 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INT.

Very good stats under those conditions. Add to the fact that he was sacked 6 times and his success on 3rd down makes it a great performance by him.

Some of the throws he made on 3rd down were huge. Yeah, he forced a couple, but that is going to happen to anybody who throws 60 times a game. Bottom line is he did not turn the ball over and made huge clutch plays throughout the entire game.

So yeah - superb performance by him, IMO.

He didn't make huge clutch plays all game. If he did, then he would have led more then two scoring drives from his own territory. The throw to Manningham was big as was the Bradshaw throw but other than that, he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire. He did do well to not turn the ball over although the Niners should've had at least one pick and showed toughness by taking the beating he did. Still though it was not a superb performance. It was solid and got his team to the SB, but to call it superb is giving him too much credit.

The Giants ran 90 plays and still had to get 10 of their points from fumbles inside the 49ers half. Credit to them for getting points off turnovers but it was a pretty crap performance by the Giants offense and also a great performance by the 49ers defense.
