Just don't act like a dick going off the handle, and the shit's gonna be over quicker. One thing I learned is to just shut my mouth, and take my ticket. I'm in and out, and done in 2 to 3 minutes. Fight it in the court, not on the road.

Don't blame the cop for pulling his gun, as he had to follow Moats for a period of time and then everyone started to get out of the car right away. He doesn't know the situation. All he knows is that he's been following a car that didn't pull over asap, and then when it did, black people started to jump out.

But, after that. Everything the cop did was fucked up.

To even say some of the shit he did, was idiotic.

That is all the reason you need to pull a gun on someone in a Hospital parking lot.

Moats should have pulled over right away, 1st mistake, Cop should have realized he was telling truth after a few minutes, 2nd mistake. Nothing the cop did was wrong IMO for the first 5 mins or so, after that his judgement was off and he messed up. Either way if Moats pulled over right away this probably could have been avoided. Also the total time was 15 mins not hours or so.

1st) I don't think he should have pulled over. I'd rush to the hospital with my flashers on just like Moats did.

2nd) I'd have done the same thing the officer did at first. He tried to contain the situation by forcing everybody back into the vehicle. Obviously some of the people weren't having it and went inside. Another clue they were in a hurry to get inside.

3rd) Moats shouldn't have pulled over right away, get your wife to that hospital man. He did the right thing.

4th) 15 minutes might as well be 5 hours. The mother inlaw died within that 15 minutes, not later that night. The officer made Moats miss the passing of his mother in law. He wasn't there to help his wife through maybe the hardest moment of her life because this cop was a dick.

For the first few moments, in a word yes. It's police protocol to keep every person in place until he investigates the situation. In other words, yes I think he draws his gun to secure the scene and make sure nobody gets away. Drawing his gun and telling somebody to get back into the vehicle is the right thing to do.

The problem wasn't in the reaction, it was in how he handled the sittuation after he finds out Moats mother in law was inside and dying. He should have stopped everything and said God bless. Instead he was an a-hole.

Is that racist? Could be. But I wouldn't jump that far so quick. The officer was 25 years old and was just doing what he was trained to do, give tickets for running a light. I've noticed the younger a cop the more dickish he is. I've only been let off of a ticket by older cops. Every young cop was a dick and gave me a ticket no matter what. But we could say his motives were this or that all day long. Fact is he, the officer, did the wrong thing.

apparently, this same cop apparently has caused problems with another NFLer's family. Zach Thomas' wife was apparently held for 5 hours for a bunch of low-level charges. Which include failure to show proof of insurance, running a red light, having an improper address on a driver's license and not having a registration sticker on the windshield.

I agree but the 2 women passengers did go inside. And if tht was moats mother in law at least the biological daughter got to see her mom. And cop did act like a dick and probably string out 8 more minutes then he should have.

No. again people die everyday. Now i know he ddint speed and he ahd flashers on but still he should have pulled over right away to make this as smooth and quick as possible. Police hear and see stupid sht all day, OBV doing something out the norm causes suspicion and some more time to figure things out.

This si the part i think i disagree with just about most people here.

I wrote somethign to happened to me at work a few weeks ago tyring to explain my thoughts on this but said F it most of you guys wont see what im trying to say so its pointless. Im a cynic man, im sorry my first thought on this is cancer isnt something tht happens suddenly and staff we try to avoid spots like this and give fam, immediate family, enough time to make it to the hospital just about every single damn time. Now OBV they are things considering her condition and care we wont know about.

I feel bad for them for losing someone, moms cant be that old, 50s probably.

It's tough man, I understand how this situation def. wasn't the right timing to act all cautious. But you gotta be careful as a cop. Most don't have partners with them, so it's all on them as far as making sure they go into a situation the right way, otherwise they may not make it out alive. Like I said though, Moats did just about everything he could to drive safely while breaking traffic laws, and even parked, then was about as calm as anyone who had someone dieing inside could be.

Ok, but at the same time, if dude in the car was gonna draw on you or pull anything else don't you think he would go somewhere other than a Hospital parking lot? You are just not being perceptive if you don't see the "Rushing+Hospital=emergency" equation in play. I can understand showing caution as an officer because you never know, but sometimes, you almost know. In this case, he should have almost known that this was just a person in a hurry to get to the hospital in a time of distress.
