I would love to see da bears win their conferance, but the same goes with denver since i dont care about those divisions. Personally, i believe da bears would be able to go all the way to the sb if 2 things happen. 1.) they get a rookie wideout who is another playmaker, most likely by trading up into the draft 2) Have the defense rejuvinated under urlacher and briggs

It wont be B-lak and Briggs who are the biggest culprits to them getting better. Its all about the D-line. And Rod Marinelli should help in that area.

Not having 4 of our CBs and both starting safties on IR should help too. People forget how many injuries we had last season

Rumors of Angelo making moves in the draft.... sounds like he's going to do what he has to, to get a WR. I like that. I'd much rather get a young guy than bring in a FA. We finally have a chance to bring in a rookie WR and actually have someone good throwing to him - I'd like to see how that works out.

What ya hearing? I'm stuck at work and can't get a hold of "my guy" right now. Haven't heard from him since the Cutler stuff.

I just heard he's thinking about moving up in the 2nd round - so there's someone he wants early in the second - my guess is he's got his eye on a WR or is thinking someone will fall into the second, that was expected to go before then.

Who knows what he's thinking about trading...

God damn it. I hope this rumor doesn't coincide with the rumors about Percy Harvin sliding down draft boards into the 2nd Rd. Stay put in the 2nd. Get a big WR and be happy.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I definitely DO NOT want Percy Harvin. I was looking at the roster today, never knew Rashied Davis is only 5'9" (and can't catch a ball thrown at 5'0") - Hester is 5'11", and Earl Bennett is an even 6 feet. We need someone with height. With Cutler's playmaker style, we need a guy who can go up and grab it.

This draft doesn't have very many big WR's espicially ones that may be able to have an immidate impact unless we can trade up for Nicks, he's only 6'1 but he plays big, or I'd be happy with Robiskie

What do you think about Matt Jones? He may have a suspension coming up but he will be cheap and is 6'6 230+ lbs. He's only 25 and has shown that he can make plays.

Assuming he doesn't goto jail. Plax would be amazing but i might be a little pricey.

Mohamad Massaquoi (Georgia, 6-2, 207)

Patrick Turner (USC, 6-5 223)


There are some talented guys there that fit our needs.

I'd rank them as guys I want in this order:

Robiskie/Barden
Murphy
Turner
Kelly
Massaquoi
Jones

I didn't say there weren't any big guys, i said there weren't many that would have the immediate impact that we need. We need a guy who can step in and become "The Guy" at some point this season, the only
big WR i think fits the bill id Brian Robiskie

Having a real QB will help these WR's turn into impact players more quickly. Who ever thought Eddie Royal would be an "impact" WR last season?........

Actually Eddie Royal was one of the higher touted prospects in last years class, the only reason he dropped into the 2nd round was because of his height.

I would disagree. Most sites for the draft had him projected in the 3rd round or later but he snuck into the 2nd because of his prowess in the return game and some great combine numbers. I wouldn't call him "highly touted" when he was the 5th WR off the board in a weak WR class.

*EDIT. Looking over old draft websites I'm having a hard time finding one with Royal ranked in the Top 10 WR's for last year's draft. Most have him ranked 3rd-5th Rd and between 10-15 at the position. One I found has him ranked as the 9th best WR prospect in the draft and that's as high as I can find him ranked.

I'm not expecting him to fill the #1 role because the Bears say Hester is their #1, or are at least treating him as such. The role this WR would need to fill would be to be a big red zone target who can go up and win tough balls in traffic. Not be a #1...this year.

Neither did having a Pro-Bowl QB throwing to him either. Hester will help other WR's now with Cutler being a legit deep ball thrower. It will help clear out underneath coverage and draw safety help opening up chances for Bennett and our rookie WR.
