Listened to an interview with Javon Ringer on the radio yesterday. He sound like a pretty smart/savvy guy and seemed excited at the chance of playing in the NFL. I think he could probably be the 3rd back on the depth chart right off the bat. Hell, if he shows something, may even be the 2nd.

its time to admit Vince Young as a 1 and Chris Henry as a 2 were waste of picks, get rid of Henry this year and get rid of Vince next year when there is no cap hit to do so. They wont get rid of Vince barring a trade this year because of the cap implications of his signing bonus.

I wonder who the 3rd halfback on this roster is? I know its not going to be Chris Henry is it Javon Ringer or Rafael Little? I think Raffy offers more on special teams, he is a great all purpose player running the ball, catching in the flats, and returning kicks. Javon is probably the more NFL ready back to strictly carry the ball. This will be a contest ill keep my eye on.



Rafael Little was injured last year pre draft and he went undrafted. The titans invited him to camp even though they knew he would play last season. Hes a baller though he led the SEC in total yards his Junior year. He stayed around the titans facilities all year and hopefully he can make the team this year.

former titans WR Biren Ealy was arrested along with teammate Kapanui in New Orleans last night..

RIVER RIDGE, La. (AP) — New Orleans Saints wide receiver Biren Ealy and tight end Kolomona Kapanui were charged Sunday with obscenity, disturbing the peace and lewd conduct for allegedly being drunk, urinating in public and exposing themselves.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office announced the arrests in a news release.

Two women, who weren't identified, were riding in a vehicle when they reportedly saw Ealy and Kapanui urinating in the parking lot of an apartment complex around 12:42 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.

One of the women told Ealy to stop. Authorities said Ealy turned around while exposing himself and began making lewd comments. Moments later, Kapanui allegedly exposed himself to the driver of the vehicle and also made lewd comments, the sheriff's office said.

Both players were jailed on $4,250 bonds.

Ealy, 6-foot-3, 207-pound receiver, and Kapanui, a 6-3, 270-pound tight end, were acquired this year as free agents. Kapanui is in his first season with Saints after playing at West Texas A&M. Ealy is a two-year pro who played at Houston and for the Tennessee Titans in 2007.

Authorities would not say whether Ealy and Kapanui have hired attorneys and the Saints could not immediately be reached for comment Sunday afternoon.

Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger said he has coached one other player who had a similar size to third-round tight end Jared Cook. But the player Cook’s frame reminded Heimerdinger of wasn’t Shannon Sharpe or even more recently, former Titans Ben Troupe.

It was instead Ed McCaffrey, who was a star receiver when Heimerdinger coached that position with the Denver Broncos.

McCaffrey teamed with Rod Smith to form the nucleus of the Broncos’ receiving corps in the mid to late 1990s when quarterback John Elway and running back Terrell Davis led them to back-to-back Super Bowl titles.

However, there is just one problem with that comparison. McCaffrey was a wide out. Cook, at 6-5, 246, is a tight end.

“Ed McCaffrey was that big. I don’t know if there are many tight ends that big. I can’t remember any tight ends like that, because he’s so big,” Heimerdinger said.

Heimerdinger’s eventual goal with Cook is to use him in mismatch situations as his size and athletic ability should be able to terrorize opposing linebackers and safeties.

Cook made several athletic plays during the rookie orientation and a couple of times ran away from coverage with his 4.5 speed much more like a wideout than a tight end. Even Titans coach Jeff Fisher admits it is tempting to use Cook as a wide receiver, simply because of his size and speed combination. But he and Heimerdinger will resist that urge because of what Cook could eventually bring to the tight end spot.

“He’s got real natural soft hands, and he adjusts very well,” Fisher said. “One can make the case that maybe he is a wide receiver after what we saw today, but he’s got a lot of work to do. He’s a very smart kid. He runs good routes and understands them well, and I think he’ll be pretty good for us.”

Fisher envisions Cook at somewhere around 255 to 260 pounds eventually without losing any of his speed or shiftiness.

“I think he’s got growth potential. I think he could add another 15 to 20 pounds,” Fisher said.

As for Cook, he is soaking everything in slowly in trying to acclimate himself into the Titans system along with his 2009 rookie classmates.

“There’s a lot more and different formations. In college, I only had five or six, so it’s a lot different,” Cook said. “I think I did pretty well. You go from being in a college atmosphere and now you’re in the NFL, so it’s a big step up.”

Heimerdinger hopes that when Cook and his other rookie pupils return in a couple of weeks to work with the veterans that they will be far enough along to contribute something in the offense.

“I’d like them to be able to get in the huddle. Jeff always sets up a practice schedule so that we have a rookie period, and that they get out there with the other rookies with a full group,” Heimerdinger said. “I really hope they can jump out in the huddle and know where to line up and have a clue on what the routes are that we want to run.

“We’ll kind of spoon feed them accordingly on what they’re going to do. But I’m hoping they can get in the huddle and go against some good competition and rotate in there.”

Cook did get to meet a few veterans who were in for workouts, and already has gotten an encouraging word from veteran tight end Alge Crumpler. Cook remembered seeing Crumpler with the Falcons when he was growing up in the Atlanta area.

“It’s kind of surreal, but Alge is a great guy. He is very encouraging, and told me if I ever needed anything that he would definitely be a resource,” Cook said.


WAITING TO SEE: Rookie running back Javon Ringer said he met LenDale White on Friday as the running back was working out during the time rookie orientation was under way. He said he also can’t wait to see quarterback Vince Young, among his other new teammates.

“I’ve already met LenDale White, and it’ll be crazy just to meet Vince Young and look at him and say, ‘Wow, that’s Vince Young,’” said Ringer, a fifth-round pick from Michigan State.

Ringer said he felt right at home with the Titans, who were one of just two teams to host him for a visit. And though he was a bit disappointed to fall into the fifth round before hearing his name called draft weekend, he got over that when he found out he would be coming to Nashville again.

“I definitely felt like I wasn’t going into a whole new environment,” Ringer said. “I was able to come here a little bit and visit with the coaches and see the whole organization here. When they picked me, I was like, ‘Great. I’ll just go back to where I was.’ I only went to two. I went here and the San Diego Chargers.”

he played his rookie year a few snaps at RB and he gained a few yards, he had 3 kick returns that i remember ... he fumbled 2 of them. If you're going to be on this team as the 3rd RB active you MUST be a special teams beast. Rafael Little is a very good return man, Javon Ringer racked up big yards in a a power conference. I just dont like Henry's chances to make the team.



To me its very likely that either Little or Ringer make the active squad, the other will be on the practice squad. I hope with Lendale, CJ, Ahmard, Quinton, Javon, and Rafael that Henry will be the odd man out. I have no scoop to suggest he is, just what im hoping for

Drew Bennett was in town today for a workout after two injury riddled overpaid seasons with StLouis.

Drew was never able to sell his house in nashville after he left town in 07 and he recently married a woman from the Nashville area. He would be the best 3/4 WR we've had since they've been in TN IMO. He said coming in he wouldnt expect starter touches and he just wants to show he still has some good games left in him.




I REALLY HOPE they can sign Drew, he was a decent player and great in the community.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Drew Bennett met with the Tennessee Titans about returning to his first team to help shore up their receiving corps.

Bennett visited the Titans' headquarters Monday. Tennessee is where Bennett got his start as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in 2001, and he led the team in receptions for two of his six seasons here.

The 30-year-old Bennett left as a free agent and signed a six-year, $30 million contract with St. Louis in 2007. He caught 34 passes before a broken foot ended his season in 2008. He also has visited with Atlanta and Cleveland after being released by the Rams.

Signing Nate Washington and drafting Kenny Britt tells me they never think Lavell is more than a 3 or 4. Drew flourished under 'Dingers offense when they were here together before. I like Hawkins as well and if hes a 4 or 5 on this team it wont matter because Fisher's team rarely ever lineup with more than 3 WR on the field.

Gage and Washington are your clear cut starters, i wonder who is the 3? I would have to think they want Britt out there early and often due to the pancake blocks he lays on midget ass CBs.

Get to know Cary Williams hes getting Nickel CB reps in practice over Demarcus Faggins who was signed strictly for depth im assuming. Faggins SUCKED in Houston, im still baffled as to why they brought him in. Cary was a seventh round small school draft pick last year, they're trying to catch Finnegan type lightning in a bottle twice im assuming. I dont know much about the Coury kid they drafted out of Rutgers, hopefully by next year he can compete for a nickel or even starting spot.



Cary Williams and Rafael Little both went to meetings with the team last year even though they never saw the field. They have a leg up on newcomers trying to make the team or take someones spot IMO.

Lendale is weighing in at 235 in training camp, supposedly he hit 261 during last season. Its a contract year and he knows Chris Johnson is the future of this offense. I really expect big things from Lendale this year. He says he wants to stay a titan. If the money is right i wouldnt mind him staying around in a two back system. If he has a monster season then i hope hes gone because with our offensive line and RB depth that money is better spent elsewhere.

what i heard today is they just brought Drew in for a physical. Neither him nor the titans have made a commitment to each other, Drew will still visit any other interested teams. The titans will know if he's healthy after yesterday though and I'd assume he'd be the first guy they call if he was healthy.... barring a younger, speedier receiver getting released in the july 1st cuts.

Jim Wyatt: Most guys have spots locked down, but I always point to the guard/center spot. Leroy Harris is too good to be a back-up his whole career, so it's just a matter of time before he bumps either Amano or Mawae. Nick Harper probably holds on because I don't see anyone taking his spot.

Jim Wyatt: The important thing for the Titans is Dinger has helped the offense, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's been best for VY. Dinger likes Collins, and knows he can win with him. He's a no-nonsense guy who doesn't have time for sideshows or anything else but trying to win. So I see Collins being his starter unless he gets hurt, which means VY won't be taking back over...

Jim Wyatt: The only other guy I think they'd be interested in is Amani Toomer, but I'd rather have bennett. They're in an interesting spot. If they bring in a vet he'd take away reps from young guys like Britt and Edison and they don't want to slow them down. So in my opinion they should be patient and see how those guys are coming along before doing anything

Hey Jim, why did it seem that the Chris Johnson injury from our playoff loss was totally ignored? We had that game and when we left we had no offense. I didn't even know what happened to him for a week or so and then no big deal was made out of it. Why wasn't there a bigger deal made out of it and was it so serious he couldn't have gone back in?
