I would be willing to wager my next paycheck that he is dead on about MS reversing their DRM policies yet again. They will use some bullshit excuse, whether it's a hack or otherwise, and will reinstate all that stuff. And knowing them they will do it without incorporating all the the alleged benefits that were supposed to be included with that DRM stuff. I don't think it will take 3-4 years though like he said. I think it will be much sooner.

Question though....you buy an Xbone day one without the DRM policies in place. As long as you don't have an internet connection, there is no way for them to reverse that policy on your system, correct? So those with internet connections will be able to enjoy the advantages while those without will still have a playable next-gen console. Solves everyone's lunatic problems.

I'd have to watch the video again and find the source he used but I believe he states that the consoles have DRM built into the system and you need to download some sort of patch out of the gate. So I think it may end up being the other way around. I need to read more about it.

Yeah he said the DRM is fully integrated and you have to download a patch to turn it off. Oh man. No excuses for that. I suppose it is good news for people like Primetime and all of those people who signed a petition to have DRM back but eventually the majority of XB1 consumers are gonna lose their top when it comes back. I'll be eagerly waiting for the shit storm. :cig:

Wow, we thought this thread was good a few weeks ago. I can't even imagine.

And that isn't even accounting for the people like the ones that I deal with at work that own consoles but have never and will never connect online. Yeah, I fully understand they don't have their priorities straight because most are on welfare and somehow still have $300+ gaming consoles, but that's for another thread. I will LOL for days hearing stories about how they bought a new Xbox, got it home, and couldn't play shit on it.

Well if you never connect to the internet I'm sure they can't but the second you do I bet it comes right back if they decide to go back to DRM. Or they can do what they're doing with Forza, you have to connect to the internet if you even want to play the game period and force your hand. You literally NEED the internet for a one time download to play Forza 5. If M$ wants you to have DRM you'll be fighting a losing battle to keep it off your console imo.

What the guy in the video that Aso posted is saying is that MS is still shipping the One with the DRM intact. Because it's already in place and they subsequently changed their minds, there will be a day one patch when you first fire up your console and connect online that will disable the DRM, which is integrated in the hardware. So it sounds like if you can't connect online you're fucked because the console has the DRM installed and you can't play games because the console will constantly try to connect to the internet to authenticate but that obviously isn't possible.

The guy in the video is also saying that he is speculating that MS will go back on their word again, after release (he guesses 3-4 years), and there won't be shit you can do about it. I would imagine there will be paperwork in the box, wording onthe oustide of the box and a EULA when you first boot it up saying that they can change their policies at any time.

I'm saying MS puts something into the games themselves that require you to connect to the internet for an update. Like giving you a portion of the game on disc and requiring you to download the rest on the marketplace.
