I have no problem whatsoever with LeBron leaving Cleveland for Miami (I hate Miami, but that's because of Bosh's lapdog act not LeBron). The only thing people have a right to be frustrated with is the Decision, which was by far the dumbest way he could have left. But honestly, tarnishing his legacy? Really? Look at the teams above, many of them had groups of stars that were better than the Miami Big 3 we have now. Was Larry Bird's legacy tainted by McHale and Parish? Magic by Kareem and the rest of showtime? MJ by Pippen? NO, of course not. You need multiple guys that can take over late and make big plays, honestly you can't find a single championship team that hasn't had that.

You typed a lot of stuff that has literally nothing to do with people's issue with James' leaving. Way to miss the point entirely. People have an issue with James' leaving for Miami and it tarnishes his legacy(which was supposed to be him being perhaps the GOAT) because he went to Wade's teams Wade's city and joined Wade. Lebron was supposed to be the alpha dog for title teams, not a sidekick/equal to someother player in that players town. That's not a GOAT's mentality. Comparing it to Bird, Magic, MJ, etc is reatrded because those teams were built around MJ, Bird, Magic. They were THE guys. Lebron in Miami isn't THE guy...Wade is. It's Wade's city, and Wade's team.

No one was ever demanding that Lebron win a title with a bunch of clowns in Cleveland. Not a single person. But people did expect James, the "king" to go to a place where he was the man and the center piece. He didn't do that. People had higher expectations for him than to go to some other players team and city. If he goes to NY or Chicago there isn't as much outrage(outside of Cleveland perhaps) and people understand the basketball reasoning behind it and it protects his legacy. Going to Miami tarnishes that.

Plus like KP stated how does Lebron expect FA's to committ long term to Cleveland if Lebron himself isn't doing it. It makes no sense.

From certain articles/reports it seems that was the case. James wants to play a Magic type game without having to be the leader of the team. As much as maybe the media and fans are at fault for buying into it or projecting our expectations onto James he is at fault as well for willingly feeding into it for years and years and crrying on the role/spot light.

IMO you're downplaying the "Magic type game." James wanting to become a facilitator, while not having to focus so much on scoring all the time doesn't equate to him not wanting to be a leader. I just don't agree with the idea that James should be relegated to Rasheed Wallace status (ie superstar talent, but role player mentality). James is a two time MVP and lifted a dead organization to championship discussion. For a guy who has done this we shouldn't be questioning his drive, determination, leadership ability or desire to be a leader.

It appears after 7 years of carrying the entire load offensively and defensively James has just grown tired and realized he couldn't do it by himself. Even the great MJ never had the responsibility that James has had. Now, in saying that I do believe James took the "I want to play with good players....I want to win championships" too far, because in the process he's tainted his legacy. However, it's his life, his career. When he's done I still believe he'll go down as an all-time great, and considering the pedestal and nostalgia people use in crediting MJ, Magic, Russell, etc I'm not sure people would have been willing to put James in that discussion anyways.

In the end the media and fans put so much pressure on these players to win championships that we base entire careers off of them, so in a way we're all responsible for this. We’ve even gotten to the point where we discredited a guy like Kobe for being a main piece, but not the main piece for a dynasty. IMO the media and fans have just become silly with this championship talk. If James goes and wins 5 championships he’ll more than likely do so while being a team leader and important piece, yet we’re going to hear debates on whether he was the main piece. It becomes an argument of semantics.

LeBron James wants to play a Magic Johnson type game.

He doesn't want to be the leader of the team.

They are pretty much seperate points but connected in regards to his choice to join Miami. He can play the "Magic" role there...but Wade is the leader of the team. Both objectives are accomplished.

I'm not saying because James wants to play like Magic it shows he doesn't want to be a leader. I'm simply saying I don't think James relishes the leadership role in general, regardless of the style he plays.

He'd rather play the Magic role no matter where he was at. And he'd rather not be the leader of the team. Miami accomplished both of these goals for him.

IMO James is a natural born leader, and the proof that I have of that has been his career for the past 7 seasons. From the get go James has made the Cavs organization relevant on and off the court. I'd say these are signs that he carried the "I'm a leader of a team" cap pretty well.

Look at early Jordan stats, he had seasons of 30+-6-6 etc. One season of 30+-8-8 as well. Plus the defensive responsbilities surrounded by worse talent until the very late 80's and very early 90's.

Different systems but same responibilities overall.

And up until the early 90's Jordan hadn't won anything.

The point is, when he became a better overall basketball player at age 27 and listened to Jackson, he won and won a lot. It's not as if Pippen came and all of a sudden they started winning, Pip and Jordan didn't win shit for 3-4 years.
