They were out for a joyride in a car that they knew was having problems. And they still chose to push it to 120. And there was skid marks at the scene, so Mr. Professional Driver Automotive Man did lose control...probably because...wait for it...he was going too fast when whatever went wrong, did.
Don't think anybody thinks they deserved to die. My point, was i'm glad nobody was out walking a dog or taking a jog or driving in the other direction when these "automotive men" were recklessly doing NASCAR speeds on a public road. I mean, if i'm being honest I don't feel particularly bad for them because you sorta ask for it if you do what they did, but they didn't "deserve" to die.
I think your first paragraph is a bunch of bullshit, but playing along, if they die at 40mph, two things. One, i'd feel more remorse. Two, it tells me these shitty cars need to either be more safe, or not be street legal. But don't sit here and pretend the speed has nothing to do with it to justify your hobby. Obviously the risk factor for something like this expands exponentially the faster you go. Don't be dense.
