From the latest issue of the Observer. Yikes, those numbers are bad. Doesn't seem like anything is a draw nowadays.

--The actual number of domestic buys for Survivor Series was 160,000, not 180,000 as reported in last week’s issue. It was an error from the source that provided us with the domestic number. The worldwide number at this point remains 280,000. In that case, you have to say from a domestic standpoint the number was a significant disappointment. So the show was up 26% from last year on the domestic side and 3% outside North America thus far, and that comes with a show the day after a UFC PPV this year, but the same thing happened last year and it was a slightly stronger UFC show numbers wise the day before the 2010 show. Some might look at those numbers to say Rock’s return wasn’t as big outside North America, but it’s really showing that international PPV has weakened due to major Mexico and Italy declines. The only other PPV shows this year to be up from last year at all were Rumble and Mania, both before the overseas declines hit, and Capital Punishment for some reason that I can’t really explain other than the show in 2010 in that slot was Fatal Four Way which was a dud of a PPV concept.

Rock will add a few 100k to the WM number next year, so I don't look into the shitty SS # too much.

Meltzer has been saying it for weeks, if there's a big draw whether it be a return or a match or whatever...it needs to be on one of the 3 big PPVs (Rumble, Mania or Summerslam) because anything else is just wasting it.

UFC took a big hit this year with only one GSP and one Brock fight. With GSP likely for just 1 fight in 2012, they have to rely on Brock staying healthy (either Brock/JDS or Brock/Mir will do a big #), Anderson/Sonnen and Bones/Rashad. Ironically, the latter two are at risk on the Fox show.

And if Arum ever got the head out of his ass and tried putting Pac/Mayweather together, it could do over 2 million buys. That's an ungodly amount of profit for a PPV in 2012.

I was skeptical that Rock helped WM this year, and im skeptical that he will help next year. WM draws on its own, and a good Taker match helps. Im of the belief nothing else matters unlesss they get a hot celeb (Trump, Lesnar,etc). It'a impossible to defend Rock, because despite the bad storyline and lame promos, his first match should have drawn. Meltzer is being nice because everyone knows they are buddies.

There is very little that will move a wrestling needle much...the Rock moves it...a little, very little. In the grand scheme...not much to bang your drum over, but enough for the E to justify whatever they are doing because they make justifications of doing everything, regardless of IQ level.

The thing about boxing, is take away Cotto, Floyd, and Pac, and nothing even broke 70k. And there is a decent chance Cotto/Mayorga lost money.

If UFC can get Lesnar and GSP to fight three times per year...wow. The problem for UFC, is Lesnar is probably one more demolition loss away from losing his drawing power, and GSP is out for a while. They desperately need a third big draw. They have a few individual fights that would do great, but no one fighter aside from the big two who are locks every time out.
