[ALL] [PC] Rift - the next MMO crack

Anyone getting it? I've been following the beta and I hear it is like WoW without all the bullshit and more customization. There are 4 classes with 8 subclasses each, which you can choose 3 of, so there is a ton of different options. Gameplay looks smooth as hell.

I'll be picking it up and waiving goodbye to my life.

I was in the last open beta that ended last night. This shit reminded me a lot of WoW from my days back in high school. I am not buying it, but I did enjoy my time for free and the Rift system forcing the entire world to work together during an event.

Gonna look into this further to see if I'd want to try it. I liked WoW at the beginning, the first year was cool. Small dungeon raid groups, adventuring and shit....that's fun.

40 man raids? Gay as fuck. Listening to some fat slob demand respect spitting out stupid fucking orders.....ugh, that shit was horrible. Scheduling 5 hour raids where you have to design out of game "point systems" to determine loot, meaning you'd get shit like once every 5 runs,,aka 5 weeks.

God damn I don't know how anyone enjoys that fucking piss.

40 man parties and high fantasy don't fuckin mix.


Do you guys know what the end content is going to be like? I'm looking to have a MMO on the side until Neverwinter drops in the fall.







edit--> watched their 20 min video on end game content, looks cool. very tempted to pre-order tonight so I can jump in on the "head start" tomorrow.

FYI, WoW hasn't had a 40 man raid since it's first couple of years. When Burning Crusade came out in Jan 07, there were a couple 10 man raids and a few 25 man raids. It's been that way since. In the past two expansions every raid has had both a 10 and 25 man version.

Blizz realized 40 man raids were terrible, inaccessible to most, only the hardcores liked them, so they did away with them. You aren't making sense if you say you liked it in it's first year yet hated 40 man raids. IIRC even Stratholme, Scholo and UBRS required 15 to beat back in those days. You'd probably like it a lot more now.

Yeah but when I played people only ever wanted to do Onyxia, MC, BWL...I quit shortly before that one was ever conquered on my server. The other dungeons, Scholomance was awesome, were cool, but there was zero interest to running them for the most part.

I did play for 2 months over the holidays, but even all the new content couldn't keep me into it.

game is pretty cool. the RIFT system is what makes it stand out from other titles.

I've not ventured far into the world, but there's a rift that opens near the questing areas. so cool to all of a sudden have the world start crazy and be instantly put in a large 20 man battle vs mobs. very cool to just happen in the open world.

there was an invasion in the zone I was in, but I didn't really experience it. imagine that's fun, rifts opening all over the place with roaming mobs attacking the NPC areas.
