BTW, I don't see Law, Seymour and Vinatieri as sure-fire HOFs. They surely won't get inducted after the "5 year window" is up.

I've NEVER said that Favre was the greatest of all time at QB (I have him at #3), The reason I brought up the Cowboys was that they had multiple HoF players to call on in critical situations during their Superbowl run. Pretty much like you agree that the Patriots have 4 or more from their run.

The Steelers had 10 (or more)
The Cowboys had 4 (or more)
The Patriots had 4 (or more)
The 49ers had 4 (or more)
The Packers had 2 and one of them didn't play in the last decade that Favre was with the team.

I was referring to Charles Haley, who has made the final list a few years in a row now and will get in eventually. The man was a beast on defense and pretty much shut down his side of the line. He has 5 frigging rings...lol

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jimmy Johnson get in as a coach either one of these days.

Writers' vendetta against Haley for the way he treated them while he was playing will keep him out for a long time. I'll be shocked if he makes it within the next 10 years.

Honest question. Do you think Haley was better than Richard Dent? Dent is up for the HOF again this year, and it seems like every year their is a logjam of "pass rush specialists" that keep Dent out (Fred Dean, Derrick Thomas, etc.)

I think Dent was better than Haley, and I really like Haley.

You're right, there is a log jam, but that's how it is. If a player wasn't obviously the best candidate for the HOF that year he won't get in. If Dent never gets in (and I hope he does) don't you think that sets a benchmark of how good you have to be? A player has to be at least this good to avoid waiting 20 years for the HOF. Seriously and in no way an argumentative point Sensor, what do you think?

No. And that's an excellent point.

Haley was a great pass rusher and a difference maker. Dent was better. He sometimes gets forgotten because unlike Haley, he wasn't a certified psycho.

But of the two of them, Dent should be in before Haley.

Brett had a pretty dominate O-Line in front of a darn good back in Ahman Green. Brett had plenty of weapons at receiver and running back. Not having a team of HOF'ers doesn't excuse the CRITICAL MISTAKES at the most CRITICAL times in the most CRITICAL games. Sorry, but Starr >>>>> Favre. Starr didn't make those mistakes.

I can't put Brett in the top three like you do. To many critical playoff mistakes to do that. His reckless style of play worked well in the regular season, when giving a game away isn't critical. But in the playoffs, that's a different story. I'll take the playoff success over the regular season numbers.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. I'm not sure that the Packers would have made the playoffs most of seasons over the years that Favre was there so it is a little disingenuous to blame him for not carrying the team all of the way on a regular basis when all of the other multiple Superbowl winning dynasties had multiple HoF players, not just "good players".

On the subject that came up earlier in the thread of "why didn't Favre run the ball" on that last play, here are some pictures of Brett Favre's left ankle and hamstring after the cheap shot from Bobby McCray (Bus Cook emailed them to a local reporter). The inside part of his ankle looks disfigured, I don't even know how he returned to the game....much less running the ball on a bootleg.

And LOL at Bus Cook e-mailing pictures of bruises to a newspaper. Is there another agent who routinely wipes his client's ass for him as much as this guy? I'm sure dozens of players in that game had similar bruises the next day, it's football.

Either way the game was almost 2 weeks ago. Favre fucked up. Saints are going to the Super Bowl. Get over it. Back to Favre waffling this offseason. I am pretty sure he is coming back next season.
