Polamalu or Ed Reed?

Typical Steelers fan, I didn't realize Troy P was mystifying opposing QBs with Jedi mind tricks this whole time. How do you know Ed Reed doesn't confuse opposing QBs? Or do you think he got 9 interceptions last season as a product of pure athleticism, and made no efforts to disguise coverage?

Polamalu often shows blitz and drops back into a cover 2 shell as his speed allows him to do that. He'll often line up at the DE spot, at corner, or over the center. He's used in such a variety of different ways it allows him to be creative pre-snap to throw off hot routes.

Where as with Ed Reed you know how he's going to be utilized as about roughly 90% of the time he's playing that "center-fielder" type of style, making the QB obviously aware of his assigment pre-snap.

Get a clue.

I think you're oversimplifying the Ravens scheme for the benefit of your argument. Yes, Polomalu roams around and the Steelers do a great job of disguising their coverage. Yes, Polamalu does a great job of being all over the field.

But you keep pretending that the Ravens are running a HS defense and Ed Reed just stands still every play. I LOL'd at "do you watch them play" because even when watching a game on TV, one won't be able to see the safeties on most plays and one certainly will not be able to read coverages as the QB does. So stop pretending you know a lot of about the game just because you want to suck some Polomalu dick.

But health doesn't always equal confusion. You need the guy who confuses QBs the most with his awesome confusion ability. Troy P is a master at confusing QBs. Who cares who makes more impact plays or creates more turnovers/points for their team? When in doubt, go with the most confusing guy.

Polamalu can roam and player "center fielder" as well and is a great ballhawk. Ed Reed isn't a guy who confuses QB's presnap with his movements as he's restricted in how he's utilized in his D. Not to mention he isn't a guy making tackles everywhere or is anywhere close to being as effective overall in run support.

Watching a lot of the Ravens/Chiefs game reminded me of that and how he's only truly dangerous with the ball in his hands or in just pass coverage. He can be avoided, he's not causing chaos everywhere like Troy.

I guess teams just chose to throw his way last season? You know.... for shits and giggles

funny thing about troy, usually when he even comes on the blitz he runs really fast and gets popped at the line, he barely ever gets past the line, only has like 6 or 7 sacks career sacks and 3 of them came in one game against the crappy texans years ago

troy gets to run around all game long because the steelers d is awesome and creates pressue and sacks, any fast safety would have a field day for that D, not saying troy isnt really good, but he isnt this amazing player like we have never seen like korn makes him out to be, that goes for Ed Reed too, he is really good also, but when you play behind a D like the Ravens you can make plays

safeties and corners are not that effective when you dont have a great front 7, give me a big time DT, DE, pass rushing LB, or MLB over a Safety every time
