Yea but by your poll, you are saying that Troy Polamalu's 2 Superbowl Rings make him better then Ed Reed because all Reed has is a DPOY award.

When Polamalu's Rings come from primarily team play, while Reed DPOY award comes from primarily Reeds ability.

Polamalu's 2 RINGS he was instrumental in getting, and there's no dispute that he actually has two rings, where as there's always dispute in DMVP of the year and the process behind it.

Well it depends on the scheme you're running. What makes Polamalu so good is he is surrounded by the right amount of talent to let him freelance out there.. and he's extremely good at that.

Reed on the other hand I think would be a great safety no matter what kind of scheme you put him in. I'm not sure I can say the same thing about Polamalu..

Troy's used in a variety of ways and because of his athletic ability he's able to do so much pre-snap and be in the right spot by the time he needs to be, very rarely is he out of position. It's anarchy by design in LaBeau's scheme and because of his IQ/athleticism he's used in this fashion.

What Ed's asked to do in his scheme is play centerfield safety 90% of the time usually in a cover 1 because he's able to read the QB better then most and make a play on the ball. It's not a complicated scheme by any means.

Troy is the more dominant complete player. If Ed doesn't have the ball in his hands, he's useless.

With your logic I guess Darren Sharper has been the best safety in the past-decade, and that Brian Russell a few years ago was the best safety in the league.
