After slaughtering the Blue Devils of Duke, #6 Alabama will be traveling all the way to Fayette, Arkansas to match up with the #15 Razorbacks led by All-American Ryan Mallett. Arkansas is undefeated so far this year, but have only played one worthwhile team. The first two weeks of the season, they slaughtered an FCS team and Louisiana-Monroe. However, last week they had their first challenge of the season, a game versus fellow-SEC member Georgia Bulldogs, and they responded with a 34-17 win. If they defeat Alabama, their rank will skyrocket and they will be in talks of best team in the nation.

Alabama has already disappointed its fans this season, with a narrow victory over San Jose State and a two point loss to #9 Penn State in week two. The next week, they exploded against Duke, unleashing all the pent up anger from the previous week upon the Blue Devils. Despite losing early in the season, Alabama still is one of the highest ranked teams in the land, even higher than their conquerors. If Alabama is going to win this game, the secondary will have to step it up to compete with this awe-inspiring pass offense.


Impact Player

Ryan Mallett is having a Heisman-caliber season so far, with almost 1,000 yards already, ten touchdowns, and zero interceptions. However, this is BY FAR the best defense he has played all season, and the only question on everyone's minds is how will he do?

To stop this incredible passing game, safety Mark Barron will need to step his game up. He's most likely going to be an All-American at the end of the season, but this is going to be the best passing attack he's ever faced.

After yet another blowout victory, the Crimson Tide finally return home after the two game road-streak. This time, they will be facing off against the visiting Gators, who hail from Gainesville, Florida. The #3 Florida Gators, like Arkansas before facing 'Bama, are undefeated. After two blowout wins against far outmatched opponents, they traveled to Tennessee easily picked apart the Volunteers. The next week, apparently looking ahead to Alabama, Florida required ten fourth quarter points to prevent the upset and hold off the Kentucky Wildcats by a score of 13-6.

If Alabama defeats the Gators, it will have a heavy impact on their ranking, and keep them in national prominence for the rest of they year, provided they win out. If they lose this game, however, they can kiss their championship hopes goodbye, and try again next season. Every game from here on out is a necessity if they want a sliver of a chance to compete for back-to-back titles.


Impact Player

If Florida wants a victory here, they'll need to rely on John Brantley, who hasn't had what anyone would call a great season up to this point. With eight touchdowns and also eight interceptions, he'll need to play the game of his life to not end up like almost every quarterback that has went head-to-head with the Tide defense this year.

To ensure a victory for Alabama, Mark Ingram is going to need a Heisman-type performance against this sub-par (by Florida's standards anyway) run defense. Ingram might not only need a good rushing night, but his blocking must be very effective as well. If he can do both of these to perfection, Alabama stands a very good chance at victory.

Another week, another road game for the Crimson Tide. This time, they travel to South Carolina and will be matched up against the 2-2 unranked Gamecocks. Both of South Carolina's losses were to other SEC schools, a 24-17 loss to the Bulldogs of Georgia and 33-12 murder at the hands of the Auburn Tigers. Neither of their wins came against good opponents, and they don't seem to stand a chance against the #3 Tide.

On paper, this should be a very easy addition to the win column for Alabama. However, as you all know, games are certainly not played on paper. If they were, Appalachian State wouldn't have defeated Michigan, nor would Stanford have won against the USC Trojans in 2007.


Impact Player

If South Carolina wants to even stand a chance, the game rests in young Stephen Garcia's hands. It's simple; when he's had a good game, the Gamecocks have won, but when he's had a bad one, they've lost.

Mark Ingram's gonna need another great performance to win another Heisman Memorial Trophy.. Last season, against this very team, was win he solidified his name in the Heisman Race as he ran twenty-four times for 246 yards.
