I just find it odd that so many of you who claim to be so immersed in child safety would be so interested in the fate of a football program. Like it fucking matters.

But PSU is the only place that puts too much importance on athletics.

But seriously, to those who say this is not about football, I don't get that. I don't see how it's not about football. Though I do agree that shutting the program down would accomplish little, other than giving martyr status to Penn State football, which wouldn't be good for anybody.

I'm not saying football has nothing to do with it. But I get the sense that people want to put the fate of the program at the forefront of the price psu must pay for their transgressions, which is exactly how we got here in the first place.

A great call into the Cowherd show. I guy who said he was molested basically said the statue is symbolic of kids who try and tell others about being molested and go unheard/ignored. I've changed my mind I say take the statue down and raise a new one that is symbolic to the thousands upon thousands of kids who are molested.

At some point I would hope justice has been served and it would be ok for psu fans to simply enjoy a football game. I don't give a shit what happens to the Paterno statue...nahste, fedex and empire to drive up to psu, drill 2 holes in his eyes and take turns skull fucking it for all I care. To avoid the distraction I have a feeling that school president Erickson will decide to take the statue down. To put some sort of memorial in it's place would be a positive gesture, IMO. I do not think the university should just move on as if nothing happened.

Give them a 5 year bowl ban, lose some scholarships during that time as well. If they see that the program is cooperating fully with the investigators to help complete the investigation and turn the program around maybe they can knock a year or two off. I just believe they need to keep playing in order to help people move on from what happened.

Penn State announced that it will NOT remove the Joe Paterno statue. Instead they cited that they will rotate the statue 180 degrees so that it will look the other way!

IMO a memorial statue dedicated to victims of molestation would be a good gesture and allow everyone to move on. I actually think having the statue of Paterno up would be more of a distraction. At this point Penn St should do something that at least acknowledges they screwed up.

The argument of "those who did it are now gone" is irrelevant and comes across as being dismissive. This story is just a part of the program/university and those who decide to attend will just have to learn to accept and deal with it.

I believe that if the NCAA gives a bowl ban, any students who graduate in the years of that ban are able to transfer without penalty, as seen with USC. If Penn State gets a 3+ year bowl ban, they could effectively have all of their football team transfer.

This is stupid ok the statue is gone whatever but we are getting a defacto death penalty reported 1 year with NO FOOTBALL the NCAA doesn't understand what they are doing they are going to KILL THE COLLEGE let alone the football program I think bowl bans are ok but anything else is not right punish the administration not the FUCKING FANS,PLAYERS, NEW COACHES and the ECONOMY of STATE COLLEGE,PA I really hope they reconsider this but they probably won't fuck it
