Despite the 0-16 record from 2008, the 2009 Detroit Lions have some weapons and can be dangerous in Madden if used properly...It all starts with getting the ball to 92 OVR Calvin Johnson...Calvin can just about out-jump, out-muscle, and out-run every defensive back in the league...Daunte Culpepper is the starting QB for Detroit, and he should have the Throw Power to get it there....And if he struggles at all, you can always put in laser armed #1 overall pick Matthew Stafford...The running game is in good hands with Kevin Smith (80 OVR), but the OL is where you might have some big time struggles (29th ranked unit in NFL)...The Lions LB unit is the strength of their defense this year with Julian Peterson, Larry Foote, and Ernie Sims leading the way...Top 10 Detroit units: LB (5th)...Worst units: QB (28th), OL (29th), DL (29th), and CB (28th).​

Former Denver QB Jay Cutler adds an entire new element to the Bears offensive system, namely the ability to throw the deep ball...Devin Hester and his 99 SPD will be one of Cutler's main targets in Madden NFL 10...Matt Forte is an absolute every down back with his 99 Stamina...The Bears still are monsters of the midway, at least at the LB position with Lance Briggs (95 OVR) and Brian Urlacher (94 OVR) patrolling the field...Bears rank in the Top 10 position units at QB (9th), RB (11th), LB (4th) and Special Teams (7th)...The worst unit for Chicago is their WR unit which ranks 29 of 32 in the NFL.​

The Packers will have a brand new look on defense changing to the 3-4 in Madden 10...Pro Bowl DE Aaron Kampman moves to OLB in the new defensive scheme...Rookie Clay Matthews will be a force from the other OLB position...Packers boast one of the best 1-2 WR duos in football with Greg Jennings (90 OVR) and Donald Driver (85 OVR)...They also have the best 1-2 punch at CB in the NFL with Charles Woodson and Al Harris...The Pack are a Top 10 NFL unit at WR (5th), LB (7th), CB (2nd), and Safety (5th)...They do have the 31st ranked OL unit however, an obvious area to target in franchise mode to upgrade.​

Maybe we renew some of those 3-point games. Freaking lost all of them :bawling: but still great games. I was looking at a vid of one couple weeks ago. I'm gonna put Talib swingin' his helmet at Calvin's "az".........with some help over the top. :crying: :happy:

I do have one gripe, receivers wise. I know Bryant Johnson had a real bad (and was injured) last year for the 49ers. But when he was with Arizona he did pretty well at the slot, I think his rating should be at least a little higher than Ronald Curry (who I like alot as well). That's about it though.

I believe a lot of us [maybe not the "elite" teams] are gonna see a lot of that. However, I believe that DSA, Mobb, DeeJay, Rhude, you, and many others can always take a low-rated team and compete with anyone loaded with the best team talent. Caveat: this year, I predict, '10 will be a little different than any game of the past. :crying:

The Vikings are a team of extremes...Best RB unit in NFL...2nd best DL unit...Worst QB unit...They are a team you definitely have to be careful how you use them...Don't just chunk it deep with Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels...You need to use that running game with All Day Adrian Peterson (97 OVR) and Chester Taylor (78 OVR)...Then lull them to sleep with a play action, and send 97 SPD Bernard Berrian and rookie Percy Harvin on deep routes for the quick strike...On defense, the Vikes have arguably the best front 4 in football with 98 OVR Jared Allen, 97 OVR Kevin Williams, and 91 OVR Pat Williams...DO NOT RUN UP THE MIDDLE on this brick wall...CB Antoine Winfield a beast against the run as well (one of best Tackle ratings in game for CB)...Minnesota ranks in the Top 10 in the following categories: RB (1st), DL (2nd)...They have the 32nd rated QB unit, by far the biggest weakness on the roster.​

Wow they totally demolished the vikings. Some flaws I see
EJ Henderson is an 80. An injury does not stop you from being an elite player.
Lets take a look at some stats....
EJ Henderson
2006: 109 tackles 76 solos 2 picks 1 defensive td (45 yard int return)
2007: 118 tackles 94 solo
2008: in 3 games before injury: 27 tacles 23 solo

Now lets look at 88 overal julian peterson
2006: 89 tackles 71 solo 1 int
2007: 74 tacles 63 solo 2int
2008: 86 tackles 65 solo

Or 95 rated Lance Briggs
2006: 130 tackles 109 solo 2 int (good year)
2007: 102 tackles 83 solo
2008: 110 tackles 90 solo 3 int

I know EJ isn't a big name Superstar but he surely deserves some love. I wouldnt even complain as much about an 85 but an 80? He is the cornerstone of our D. Sure he got injured but by that standard should Brady be a 90?

Generally, we have a roster update day 1, so some of these numbers may/may not be changed with that update. That has happened in the past. There has to be a "stop" point EA reaches when nothing else can be changed due to having to go to the packaging/shipping finality. I do expect to see that roster update on day 1. Whether it will relieve some of our pain or not remains to be seen.

I just dont see how julian, playing in a similar system and getting far less tackles, is rated 8 points higher.

I hear you. It's like I find it hard to see that a low draft choice can come in and be rated about 20 points higher than a same-position player drafted higher with a year already in the league.

I was referring to a rookie QB from Clemson, Cullen Haper, that EA listed when they released all the rookie player ratings after the draft. However, when I went to see what team drafted him, I can't actually find an NFL team [NFL.com-I'll keep looking] that did....which makes it even more bizarre that EA would give Harper an OVR of 52 under their "new" system and turn around give Josh Johnson on the Bucs a 38, as posted by someone here on VSN that, I believe, got it from Pastapadre's site, and possibly will be confirmed Tuesday when EA puts out the team player ratings. JJ was at least drafted and has a year in the NFL, regardless of the lack of playing time. At least he should be rated a 52, the same as Harper, lol. And BTW, I had better success with Garcia in '09, which doesn't say a lot.

OVRs, per se, don't mean much to me in the total scheme, but I found, like you, the disparity in ratings sometimes is like a disconnect with the guy at Tib.

Cullen harper rated higher than JJ? travisty. Apparently hes also rated higher than John David Booty, who had a much better college career in a NFL system and got drafted.

I would think so, 76-78, just for the potential. If he won the job and did well the first couple of games, I would think he would get a little boost.
