Indiana Wins Game, Loses Willis to Injury

Mount Pleasant, IN - Midway through an easy win for the Hoosiers, Darius Willis complained about pains in his ankle. The pains were so bad, he had to be taken out after just 9 rushes. After doctors looked at his right ankle, they discovered that it had been sprained on his long touchdown run in the 1st quarter. He's out for two weeks.

"It hurts when I walk, run, sit, etc. I guess you could say it hurts doing everything," he told us after the game. "I've been taking like 50 painkillers a day to ease the pain. It's not fun."

Besides losing Willis to injury, everything else was great for the Hoosiers. Especially the freshman. "They played like veterans out there," Coach Thompson said. "If you weren't an Indiana fan, you would have never suspected that it was their first game." Jammone Chester was amazing at quarterback, the "Future of the Indiana Defense" (Tim Alexander, LOLB) led the team with 8 tackles and 1 TFL, and first year starter Darius Willis was awesome, rushing for 110 yards on 9 carries and a touchdown.

Indiana hopes to continue their hot streak next week against Arkansas State.

Coach Thompson's Recruiting Magic Lands 2 Players

Bloomington, Indiana - Coach Anthony Thompson has used his amazing recruiting skills to land 2 recruits already this year.

Don Brown, a 6'1 215 fullback from Nashville, Indiana is one of the best fullbacks to set foot on the Indiana campus in years. Actually, he's one of the ONLY fullbacks to play for Indiana. An avid Indiana fan, who wished to remain anonymous, told us that he has never seen a true fullback line up for the Hoosiers. "I've been following Hoosiers for football for 60 years, and I have never seen a true fullback. I've seen halfbacks that fill in as a fullback, but never a player who was just one. The fact that we would recruit one is just amazing."

The other recruit, Beau Walker, is the best recruit that Thompson has ever gotten to go to Indiana. A four star safety from Fairview Park, Ohio, is the 6th rated free safety in the 2010-2011 Recruiting Class. A dominant cover safety, he led the state of Ohio with 11 interceptions last year. That stat was boosted because of his 5 interception game in the Regional Finals (which they lost, surprisingly), but that is still an amazing stat. Not only can he drop back into coverage, however, he is also a great tackler. Said his high school coach John Booth Wilkes, "I have almost never seen him miss a tackle once he gets his arms wrapped around the guy. He's that good."

Let's hope Thompson can keep up his amazing recruiting.

Quarterback Play Leads Indiana to Victory

Bloomington, IN - Is Jammone Chester the front runner for the Freshman All-American Quarterback spot? I don't know, but what I do know is that he almost single-handedly carried Indiana to a 51-13 victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

How well did he do? He only threw for 4 touchdowns, the most at Indiana since 2007, when Kellen Lewis passed into the end zone 4 times in a victory over Ball State. "I was feelin' it today," Chester said after the game. "All my throws were right on the money. I didn't care if there was a defender right in front of the receiver. I was gonna chuck it his way anyway, because I was on fire. And when you are on fire, you can do that type of stuff." That attitude came back to haunt him late in the game, as he completed 1 of his last 4 passes and threw an interception. Coach talked to him about it after the game, and he thinks he got Chester straightened out.

But Chester wasn't the only great player today. Mitch Ewald, the sophomore kicker, was outstanding as well. He went 3 for 3, including a 53 yard field goal--his longest this season. He also booted field goals from 49 and 31 yards out. "You can tell when you are kicking extremely well because the ball feels light on your feet," he told us in the post-game press conference. "Sometimes, kicking a field goal is like slamming your foot into a led block. When that happens, you are having an off-day. If you kick the ball and you can barely feel it as it flies of your foot, you are having one of your best days. Yesterday, I was having one of my best days."

Also joining Chester and Ewald as the dominant players on the Indiana roster is Tim Alexander, the highly-touted Outside Linebacker. He had 11 tackles, 5 tackles for loss (which tied a record for Indiana) and 2 sacks. "I don't feel like I did anything special," said Alexander. "Those were my average stats at my high school. Why should they be any different now?"

Indiana hopes to keep their winning streak alive next week against the pitiful Iowa State Cyclones

probably. the only thing i have to worry about about is their quarterback. he's amazing. if he doesn't throw for like 500 yards and 10 touchdowns, i should be fine

Your formats are so beast. I wish I knew how to do them

it's not too complicated. im gonna have trouble explaining it, but i'll do my best. for the game updates, i use paint.net. i type the score/game stats in microsoft excel, take a picture, paste the pic in a different paint document, and then cut and paste the stuff i need into the game update. next, i copy and paste the helmets from Jayrock's logos site into paint. i flip one of them around so that the helmets face eachother. for the pictures, i upload them to easportsworld, save them, then upload them to flickr to get them the right size. then i copy, paste, and type a description. for the words, i just type in the information using the typing thing on paint.

Indiana Recruits Big-Time Player, Willis a no-go against ISU

Bloomington, IN - Indiana has successfully lured one of the Nation's top recruits to play for the Hoosiers, and Darius Willis is not going to play this week against the Iowa State Cyclones.

Beau Walker, the 5 star corner back from Cincinnati, Ohio, is the 5th rated player in this year's recruiting class. At only 5'9, you might think he's too small to be a dominant corner. Not so fast, my friend. Did you know he has a 45 inch leap? Or that he runs a 4.23 40 yard dash? Yeah, he's that good. He also has some of the best hands in the nation, intercepting 8 passes last year, including a spectacular 1-handed grab (with his off hand) in the state championship to seal a 24-21 victory. "I'm good, but I'm not that good," he told us. "I know I'm a 5 star recruit, and I also know that I'm rated the top corner back in the country. But at the All-American game, I saw at least 5 corners who were better than me."

In other news, Darius Willis will have to sit out this week because of a sprained ankle. "It's BULLS***! Why the Motherf***** hell can I not play? I can run just fine!" He proceeded to get up out of his chair, run a few steps, and then yelp in pain because of his ankle. Still wonder why you can't play this weekend?

Hopefully the Hoosiers can play well without him for the 2nd week in a row.

i love when people snag 5-star recruits, they are definitely game-changers when they step upon the field.

i know. i have to spend like all of my time on the 5 and 4 stars to get them, but it's definitely worth it when the season starts, as they'll be my best players.

Love what you are doing with the Hoosiers, but as for what you have to do, and I know you said "it's not too complicated", but damn does that seem like a lot of work! Good job!
