Freeman Error
Traded Greg Olsen for a 3rd round pick and PTBNL- Say what you want but Olsen was the closest thing the team had to an actual WR. This move immediately meant that Hester and Knox would be getting more targets.

Grade: D-...the only reason it's not an F is because there is a chance the Bears fall ass first into a good player in the draft. Not likely...but I'll hold out "hope" we have a new GM making the pick next season
Signed Roy Williams, WR-After dicking around with signing Brad Smith(a guy who only had 4 receptions last season) the Bears "upgraded" and went after Roy Williams, a player that has been nothing but a disappointment since a Pro Bowl season in 2006. They ignored better or more talented options on the market like Braylon Edwards, Malcom Floyd
fap
, James Jones, Randy Moss, trading for Chad Johnson etc for this reclamation project simply because he played for Martz before and Dallas Drake was a friend. Get ready for more Mushin Muhammad type numbers.
Grade: F
Signed Amobi Okaye, DT-A failed first round pick with the Texans Okaye comes over to replace the Bears own failed first round pick in Tommie Harris who is still unsigned. Okoye is still young(24) but has been in the league since 2007. He wasn't terrible in Houston and I have to think the Bears feel Marinelli can work with him and help him reach his potential. Signed a one year deal so it's a low risk proposition and I think he fits in well with what the Bears like to do.
Grade: B
Signed Marion Barber, RB:-Yet again the Bears ignore better options for their team at this position like Reggie Bush, Darren Sproles, and Jerious Norwood and instead sign a guy who has somehow been a worse version of Chester Taylor. The Bears have been obsessed with finding a short yardage back the last few seasons(Taylor, drafting Unga, now this) for some odd reason. If they would just upgrade the offensive line short yardage wouldn't be an issue. But I digress....Barber doesn't fit in with the Martz scheme and already walks into a situation where his niche is filled by two other RB's on the roster. What Angelo was thinking here is beyond me.....although it will satisfy the mouth breathing meat headed "get off the bus running/ smash mouth football" crowd
Grade: F
Signed Sam Hurd, WR-Rashied Davis wasn't resigned so I guess the Bears felt they needed to fill their quota of shitty veteran WR's. Dane Sanzenbacher remains the best WR on the roster and more than likely won't even make the team let alone see the field. I'd rather roll the dice with guys like Kris Adams and Sanzenbacher coming out of nowhere then to keep adding shitty ex-Cowboy WR's.
Grade: F
Re-signed Anthony Adams, DT-Hilarious guy. Average DT. The Bears have seen what he can do and I think Adams is about the only black guy to ever play in the NFL with the normally reserved for white guy "high motor" tag.
Grade: C
Signed Vernon Gholston-Another low risk signing. Has yet to record a sack in his NFL career. Was playing out of position/scheme his entire career with the Jets though. If he turns into anything it allows the Bears to move Israel Idonije around like they would prefer to and create matchup problems. The Bears are again buying into the Marinelli magic idea that back in a 4-3 scheme and with Peppers helping him out Gholston can achieve the success expected of him out of college. I don't really have any expectations but don't mind the move as Gholston is talented enough to take the chance on.
